Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

If he´s fit enough to train why the hell isn´t he back here? He´s contracted to us for this season. Getting a bit miffed at seeing him running around in Barca gear in Spain when we´ve paid them for his services this season.

What exactly do you think rehab entails?...Would it not likely involve some running as well?...He's in the final stage of his recovery and I imagine he'll be back in the UK in the coming week

That's not quite how it works mate.

Yes he has a contract with us. But he is owned and HIGHLY valued by them. Only natural they want to ensure he recovers correctly.

Needs to be back at FF now though I think. It's all a bit insulting to our lot at Finch Farm him being away for treatment. I can understand warm(ish) weather being an aid to recovery early on. I wonder what his teammates think about it?

The fee is linked to games he is 'available'. Robby said it himself.

While that's true it's actually a negative if he misses matches. The loan fee is waived if he plays in a higher percentage of our games (can't remember the exact %), as from Barca's point of view the more he plays the better for his development

I imagine the deal contains a clause giving Barca 100% in control of his rehabilitation (I expect their expertise might be better than ours anyway) and final say on when a player is fit to return.
They want to protect their investment.
We could rush him back, overwork him to the point of relapse in the short term and send him back in the summer needing operations and suffering from long term weaknesses which would massively decrease his value.

Not saying we would do that, but it's Barca looking after their interests as we only have a loan of him.

Eh ??

How is it a negative ? Its win win. He plays more, means he is doing well, he will be free, and Barcelona get a player developed.

He must play a % of games HE IS AVAILABLE FOR.

How is it insulting mate?
Imagine if we loan out Barkley and he suffered the same injury, it's logical if we do the same and bring him back to nurse his injury.

It's logical we'd want him immediately diagnosed and treated and not rushed back. But where he gets the fine tuning of his recovery now is another thing. I cant see the benefit to him or us being in Barcelona. The temperature difference is pretty negligible this winter and he could do with coming back into the fold to show a bit of camaraderie with what's going on here with the team. A tweet after a game doesn't quite do it.

Kind of agree.

Suppose Barcelona can do what they want. He is their player and is worth A LOT of money. They wouldn't want us to rush him back would they? could get injured again. thats just silly. If Barkley was hyped up as much as him and lets say we were Barca then I'm pretty sure you would want them to come back.

At least he tweets about it lad. Gibson has only just started tweeting about us because someone actually mentioned him in a tweet saying something along the lines of 'Deulofeu tweets about us and he is on loan whereas Gibson is our player and has been for a couple of seasons'.

I wonder why he doesn't tweet more about us when he has knobs like this tweeting him,

Lee Griffiths, @LeeGriffo_efc "why don't you **** off and get fit instead of getting paid to be injured 24/7 !" and "useless lad go back to the useless manks!"

Everton 1878, @macka_09 "why u laughin at your own jokes? You ****in clown u look about 40 u baldy ****!"

It's happened before when Gibbo tweets about us and fellow 'blues' start giving him abuse. Doubt Deulofeu has to put up with that ****e from his own fans. Be better off getting off twitter and avoiding abuse and people getting ants in the pants that he doesn't tweet enough about us. Sad.

Can anyone shed any light on when he is due to return to us from injury ?this week ? Will he make the bench for the derby game ?
