Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

It's logical we'd want him immediately diagnosed and treated and not rushed back. But where he gets the fine tuning of his recovery now is another thing. I cant see the benefit to him or us being in Barcelona. The temperature difference is pretty negligible this winter and he could do with coming back into the fold to show a bit of camaraderie with what's going on here with the team. A tweet after a game doesn't quite do it.

I suppose his age/ family is a factor maybe.

Not that bothered about him recovering at Barca TBH. He's their player and I'm sure their doctors and physiotherapists and rheab facilities are better than ours.

End of the day we gain nothing from trying to be arsey towards barca about one of their loan players to us, not especially if we want any form of future loans off them etc

i reckon at leastr when we do get him back he will be ready to play straight away, as barca will only send him back to us when there is no chance of a relapse, barca are gonna want him to play they dont want to impede his development

Obviously I would die for him to be available for the derby but in truth I thought he'd only be back mid Feb.
So long as he can push on straight away and becoming a starter for the rest of the season- that would be such a treat!

shame about the derby, but at least no chance of one of them lot running through him...if we can just somehow get a win in the derby, then he really is gonna help unlocking the door agains lower teams..

I still reckon he'll be back for the derby, I've got a feeling Martinez is saying he'll be back after the derby to surprise the kopites when he's sitting on the bench dying to tear their yard dog left back a new one

I imagine the deal contains a clause giving Barca 100% in control of his rehabilitation (I expect their expertise might be better than ours anyway) and final say on when a player is fit to return.
They want to protect their investment.
We could rush him back, overwork him to the point of relapse in the short term and send him back in the summer needing operations and suffering from long term weaknesses which would massively decrease his value.

Not saying we would do that, but it's Barca looking after their interests as we only have a loan of him.

Interesting that, because we're running Lukakau into the ground.....looks like he'll go back to Chelsea knackered...maybe its a plan to get him on the cheap?

no chance!....he wouldn't even be match fit now for a game of that intensity...

i'm more worried about Pienaar & Coleman for the derby....coleman obviously is very doubtful, but had hoped Pienaar would be back for the stevenage game. would have been perfect to give Pienaar 45 mins against them, and have him ready for the derby...

Disaster going to anfield without Barkley, Coleman, Pienaar & Deulofeu....typical of our luck though....we'll prob pick up another injury (or suspension) at the weekend...
