To be fair, I don't think we played all that well.
We seemed to be set up to counter but still handed too much initiative to Newcastle. Had it not been for a terrible miss, Newcastle are right back in the game. But fair play to the lads as they bucked up after that and we saw more passing in the midfield and eventually seen the game out with a third.
That wasn't us at our best, yet we still won 3-0. Very promising signs for the future, here.
FCBarca - If you have been watching us for most of the season you will realise that most of our games result in us dominating possession with a slow build up and he has struggled sometimes with defenders reading what he is going to do. There was a point tonight before Osman scored that you could see his awareness and decision making has improved. When the ball was played to the edge of the penalty area he done his stepovers, looked up and seen Lukaku on the edge of the box unmarked and chose the right option. A couple of months ago he would have run that out or had it taken off him.
Its a shame that the injury occurred when it did as he was just starting to hit some form.

I get that for 65 minutes of a 90 minute game we weren't great. But there was about 7 moves where we just clicked and we were utterly superb.
I guess I'm more likely to focus on those bits of magic then on the sloppy bits.
We just had an extra gear to go into that newcastle couldn't live with and it was great to see.

Not just Gerard's injury but your squad has been hit with several bad injuries...The rest, it looks as if the team was running on fumes there and lacked sharpness/fitness - perhaps part of that is the season and perhaps part of that is a lack of depth in key positions
It's not as if I am just watching Deulofeu for the first time this season, nothing he's done up to this point with Everton has surprised me - he has even more to his game...His biggest issue so far has been the hamstring injury and getting consistent minutes

meh.
anyone can shoot volleys from 30 yards like they were trying. it's called desperation and running out of idea. we played a counter attacking game and it worked, we created the more clear cut chances.
