Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Quote it correctly eh?...Do Everton look the same as they did before the winter break?...Did I say Newcastle were unlucky?...I pointed out how good they looked going forward and how influential Ben Arfa was

Hahaha, caught out creeping up the Mancs. Well in there! Boss gloryhunter you mate.

Pat us on the head some more please, you jarg Catalan queg.

Not just Gerard's injury but your squad has been hit with several bad injuries...The rest, it looks as if the team was running on fumes there and lacked sharpness/fitness - perhaps part of that is the season and perhaps part of that is a lack of depth in key positions

It's not as if I am just watching Deulofeu for the first time this season, nothing he's done up to this point with Everton has surprised me - he has even more to his game...His biggest issue so far has been the hamstring injury and getting consistent minutes

every team's performances drop near the end of the season, it's bound to happen, players get tired after a whole season of footy. not just us.

He will go invisible occasionally like all young players do but when he's on his game he's terrifying to the opposition. Yes he doesn't pass all that much but we have plenty of others who pass it around. Since I've been watching since 04-05 with maybe the exception of Donovan he's been the best RW we've had.

9/10 times he tries doing waaay too much with the ball and ends up wasting a chance to create something, but that other 1/10 he pulls off some remarkable stuff. Real exciting player just has to be a little more consistent and more aware

From bang average and too big a club for him to now he's a special player, all in the span of hours...I'd say that's some mighty fine backtracking

You are right in that we have a relatively small squad and there have been a lot of injuries. Its meant that in particular our midfield two of Barry and McCarthy have basically played since game 3 of the season plus domestic comps without any rest.

That is one of the reasons why its so critical that our wide players are rotated so that they are fresh and have the energy to run at defences and whilst also helping out with some of the defensive work. That is particularly true when we have 3 games in 8 days like we do this week.

All Barca "fans" seem to care about is statistics. they mean nothing it's the points that count!

This @FCBarça lad is no Barca fan.

He's a glory-hunting American whopper, hence his fascination with stats for "soccer".

Aye, nearly as a toe curling as pretending to be Spanish LOL when you're not.

Well...not really, unless you can show us some posts by any poster who went from one point of view to the other.

Ill think of you when Im cheering on your favourite team at the actual stadium tomorrow evening man. Looking forward to the atmosphere at the Atleti game too!

Much better player than Neymar, Tello and Pedro. Can see him going back next year and starting. Don't think they have the finances to replace the leaking defence and attacking options, so makes sense to bring Gerard back and go after a proper centre half. Shame, would have liked to see him here for another year.

If you're gonna quote me kid, do it properly. Yes, I said he'd been 'bang average' and I also said, "Sure he's got potential, but he's not been great"

Pretty sure most, if not all, blues would agree with that statement before tonight's game. He was great tonight, and that's what we wanted to see. It's the first time he's staked a real claim for a starting role. You, on the other hand, seem to think he should have featured in every game he's been available for, due to thinking we owe it to Barca.

Do us a favour mate, go and talk about him with Barca fans. We're Everton, and Everton comes before Barca, for us....

His best game for Everton without doubt and justification that he's been handled perfectly by Martinez thus far.

A very special talent, albeit an inconsistent one up to this point, but he should be a potent weapon for the run-in. He's certainly earned his starting place ahead of Mirallas on that showing.

I knew before opening this thread that the Swiss Jarg Balague would be crowing, despite the fact it just confirmed everything everyone has already said about the lad.

Imagine he hadn't had that injury jut when he was getting going.

I am hoping against hope we get another season out of him.....it is a privilege to be watching the lid.
