Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

The fact that we have Pienaar, Miralles and Oviedo out and Barkley, Naismith and Osman are horrible out wide I guess he will start against City but please not on the left. Stick him on the right with Aids down the left

Hopefully we see him in goal against city mate, either that or at cb alongside osman

If we can break down his own self importance we would have an exceptional player on our hands, I think the same happened similarly to Cristiano Ronaldo at United when he would try so many flicks and tricks but nothing came off plus his final ball was often poor but eventually something clicked and we all know what he's gone on to achieve.

There is definitely a good player in there, Roberto just has to work on getting the best out of him.

The hype at Barcelona can't help either, Some perceive him as the next Messi so in a way he seems to have taken to that role where he will look to dribble past 4 or 5 players and take a shot on himself instead of looking for an easier solution. As it stands at this present moment he's doing more harm to his Barcelona chances by playing this way so it's in his own interest to up his game as he desperately wants to play for his club which at this rate won't happen.

Am I missing something here, or is this thread the place to post moronic comments?

Thinking that myself!!

He was no worse than usual, but alright then

I was there mate.

He was worse than I've ever seen him. Everything he did didn't come off.

Not one dribble, cross, shot etc...

It happens. He's about 12.

In every other game he's played (bar a few 90th minute cameos of course) he's put in good crosses (not always picked up on by our forwards) or completed good dribbles, or forced a keeper to make a save.

I honestly don't think his head was right yesterday.

But whatevs.

First name on the teamsheet on Saturday.

Not one?

He put a killer of a cross right on to Lukaku's head on the edge of the six yard box and in the centre of a gaping goal.

Lukaku headed over when a header on target would have found the back of the net.

He made a great run from Naisy's clever pass to spring the offside trap and was bearing down on goal only for the linesman to wrongly flag him.

He never played well yesterday......and in this he wasn't alone on our team....but he did have a couple of moments which should have produced goals.

You can't teach what he has. Yes, he's been by and large awful, but that's to do with mentality and the lack of application of his raw skill. He has talent in abundance and it'd be foolish not to take a chance on that talent for another 12 months on effectively a free, especially given we'll have European commitments next season.
