Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

I've always liked Unai.

Same, perfect fit for Sevilla as well

He had this to say regarding Deulofeu a few days ago:

“Cuanto más lo dejemos tranquilo, mejor. Tiene que asentarse, no hay que presionarle, tiene que liberarse y crecer. Tiene ejemplos cercanos donde mirarse. Ahora tiene que tener constancia. Tiene talento pero para ser futbolista de élite, le falta un paso. Él lo sabe y se lo han dicho entrenadores anteriores. Aqui ha venido a pulirse, con toda la exigencia del mundo. Tiene que trabajar y está en esa línea”.

The more we leave him alone, the better. He has to settle in, can't pressure him, he has to break free and grow. He has examples nearby he can look to. Now, he needs experience. He has talent but to become an elite footballer he's missing a step. Gerard knows this and his coaches have told him this before. Here he came to get polished with all the demands of the world. He has to work and is on that path.

Nothing that wasn't really mentioned by the majority of Everton fans and Martinez in there.

Yep and I firmly believe the best place for him would have been with us for another season to get him more disciplined on the defensive side of his game, not to mention it being a team game!!
I agree. Continuity would probably have been the best for him. I can understand Barcelona would prefer to give him a season in the Spanish League and I hope things work out for him.
But I can't help feeling for him. There is a degree of football gypsy about the lad. Staying for a second year here may have better for him.
Good luck to the boy.

Agreed.

I was born 2000 miles west of Mexico in a small village called "Cucha Cucha" which means wise owl. I was fortunate enough to learn the ways of the world and wise knowledge from pappa bear who taught me to hunt for squirrels and tadpoles.
I'll have some of what he's smoking please :bye:

Pappa bear still delivers his medicine via a special courier called Kev who waits outside strange taverns known as "pubs" offering his medicine for some gold coins ( or £20.00 notes whatever is best for you ). Anyways less of me talking crap, hope Del has a good season but not too good a season that makes me fume that he never came back.

If Barcelona decide at the end of the season they don't want him, I will watch with interest to see if accepts our interest to return, because I think Roberto would have him back.
Question is though, does he want a return to England permanently?

Good question and one that I wouldn't know the answer to but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if in 12-24 months he has to leave Barcelona and has a chance to come to England.

...might be wrong, but I get the impression that he was not overly keen on staying or rekindling his links with us. Shame, as he's a class act. If I'm right, that situation might change when he sees life at another club but I have my doubts.

Personally, I don't believe he will crack the first team at Barcelona if they are allowed to buy big again from next season.
If he has a successful stint at Sevilla he may stay there. They are regulars in European competition.
Depending on what we have to offer, it will be interesting to see how things develop
