I'd happily spend half of that on Deulofeu. There's not many in world football with the raw ability he has, and he'll always be worth a punt at a similar price for another team even if he doesn't work out for us.

At around £12m, it's a no brainer for me, as he could go on to be worth three times that. He's one of those players who, if everything clicks into place, could be "phenomenal".

lukaku wasn't potential alone. he's already scored 20 goals in a season for us, something which our strikers almost never do in the last 20 years. delafeou is purely potential though, he hasn't achieved anything in his career so far

I think with Lukaku there were plenty of question marks, hence the reason no real top clubs wanted to gamble on him. The goals he scored were in a set system of play and the perceived weaknesses have been played out since he signed permanently.

Deulofeu situation is very similar. Like Lukaku, we know what he can do, but it's the consistency and ability to adapt his talents to the overall team play which is the gamble.
