I have just had a horrible thought about this...

Like Barcelona can see some advantage in having a decent relationship with Everton.....
Well Barcelona and Real do spend ridiculous amounts on players so if they do want Stones in the future we would get a bloody good fee.

Am I dreaming, why on earth would they let him go so cheaply and surely nearly every team in the world would want him for that price?

Its supposedly a down payment of a 8mill euro deal, which if they have a buy back clause or first option gives Barca a safety net in case he comes good. Its a great deal for us but its not a bad deal for them either. He obviously didnt want to go on loan to Seville last year and had a bad year, he's said he wont go on loan again.

The options for Barca then are force him out on loan, which would probably be another wasted year for them and him. They could keep him but he's not going to improve at Barca B, or they could sell him with a buy back clause. At least then the team he goes to will be more invested as he's there for the long haul as opposed to 1 year.

As for Deulofeu himself, there probably has been lots of other teams interested for that fee but he knows the set up here, so he is aware of what he's coming to, as opposed to taking a chance on another team and ending up having a similar season to the one he's just had. Plus him and his girlfriend seemed to enjoy it here (aside from the wind).

Often happens like that.

Unless a more reliable source picks up on it, which normally means they've actually done a bit of investigating to see if there's anything in it, it's just a recycled story. If someone like the Guardian or the Independent run with it then it'd look like the story was defo true.
Although it has been said that they often just pick their stuff from the tabs too. Personally I hope we get him, do not believe for a minute it will be 3 mil with no strings. Won't actually believe until he is at FF with shirt on. We would be a good fit for him too but at anything like that price RM will have to do a v good sales job because we will have rivals galore.

There was a story a while back ( or Balague mentioned it ) that Barcas technical director recommended they should try and purchase Stones but they opted for Vermaelen instead. Can't remember where I read that a few months ago but sure I've seen it somewhere.
