Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

also with clubs like barca, there can be a fee arranged to buy out there buy back clause, complicated i know but it happens in football.

I imagine martinez wants him longer than the 3 years, so that could be part of the negotiations.

I wouldn't worry too much, just relax and wait for it to happen, we're definitely getting him and its only been about three days so chill.

If that is true then we really are embarrassing. Like really embarrassing. Still talking about how the fee is going to be paid ?! Jesus wept !

3 million quid broken down into 50 separate payments with different clauses triggering a few grand here and there.

Just pay the kin low arse fee already and get it done.

Nope. At what point and at what price can Barca trigger the buy back clause(s) is probably the stumbling block.

So basically we are effectively loaning him from Barca until they want him back, with the price increasing the longer he stays it seems and their buyback price factored in as well. Sounds really complicated - no wonder it is taking so long to iron out the details. He will probably sign though when it is all sorted, but if delivers on his potential he will probably end up back at Barca so it is difficult to ascertain how good a deal this is for Everton.
Tbh as long as Luis Enrique is Barca's manager don't think he'll want Deulofeu back short of him being the next Ronaldo and even then not sure Deulofeu would want to work for him, some players just aren't a manager's "type".

Agree, but they are just covering their behinds in the event he turns out to be a fantastic player. And if he does either they will want him back to sell him at a profit or there will be a clause built in that we have to cough up more cash after a certain period of time.

There won't be a problem - they will take him if they want him at a pre-agreed price.

Yeah, and if he's great enough that Barcelona of all clubs wants him back - we'd be foolish to think he would be a Blue for much longer anyway. Of course Barcelona could easily then sell him for even more $ but I'll take a few seasons of MAGIC.

Do you know who thought they had a signing in the bag???

West Brom and Lakaku a few years back when we stormed in last minute to take him on loan.

Never let a potential deal sit on the table, close it off.

not worried about the buy back at all, even if Del does go on to exceed all our expectations, who's to say they'll want him back, it's Barca FFS, they're never really short of the world's best players are they ?

No and they may never want him back. But you can count on it that they are going to make sure in this deal that they are financially compensated adequately if he does.
