Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Exactly. He'll fall in love with EFC and be here for years. And David Moyes, don't even think about poaching him! (if you're still at Man U that is)

He could defo be a perm signing in a few years if he's not given the opportunity to break through.

Messi has just turned 26, Neymar's 21. They also have Tello (21) who is supposed to be very good and the likes of Sanchez and Pedro. You never know but if he really likes it here there might be a future transfer, not easy to break into the Barca team.

Sanchez fails again this season and he will be got rid of, and Pedro didnt have the best time last season either. There will be a role for him at the Nou Camp, but it wont be a starting role and there is always the chance they will buy someone ludicrous up front.

Got linked by a few of my Red ****e supporting ''mates'' to youtube videos of Luis Alberto (the lad they signed) and in almost every move and highlight it features Deulofeu looking very good.

Could be a bit of a coup this move and it's encouraging that Barcelona trust us and Martinez to nurture one of their brightest talents.

To be fair to Barca, they really do seem to look after their kids.

If they think it will benefit him on loan and even 1 day sell and buy back, they its right for the lad.

Funny how we got their top youth player and Liverpool got someone who wasn't rated foe the money elsewhere.

What amuses me is that Barca know they have played together and Rodgers could have said he would pair them up in games (which would have been a benefit to all).

Still, we've got him now and I think he will stay for 2 seasons (unless he is really top notch over the whole year) with another barca player coming next season if we are successful (as well as other teams youth if we do well with gerard)...

Very keen to see how he does.

Major difference is they own there player whilst ours is just here for a holiday

Hunter made some really juicy points. 1) Barca trust Martinez to make him a better footballer and teach him and continue his learning curve. Say what you want, but the fellas at Barca know a thing or two about footie and if they think that highly of RM then we've got ourselves a winner. 2) They defo want him back. This isn't a loan with a view to a signing. If we were to get him, it would be after he goes back for a few years and both sides realize he's not getting in the team no matter how good he is, because Barca have world class players ahead of him. 3) he's got bags of skill. Like in the upper percentile of ability. Just needs to put it together. 4) he will eventually play a #10 role. Not sure if that will happen with us though.

Courtois did really well in his first year at Atletico but Chelsea let him stay on because they saw that he would develop better there than on their bench. A similar thing could well happen with this kid. Even if he does well it's not going to be easy to get into their first team and as we're not a Spanish club or a direct rival in Europe, Barça might let him stay another year.
