that's true but if technique like that and the practice it needs can rub off on a few while he is here then it will be a massive bonus

3-4 times a season is fine by me though. Let's face it, how many free kick howlers have you seen last season by a single team? It's only like 5 that are scored, probably, directly, and he does it well enough, has hit the posts lots or has had them saved occasionally. Consistency-wise - he's great at it and we can change him only if Martinez thinks that he's not good enough, but I don't see that happening, unless GD is totally amazing at it.

I wish we had Juninho Pernambucano though...

Yeah I agree with you. I can't think of anyone in the PL who hit more than 2-3 free kicks into the back of the net last season bar the top players we can't afford. To say Baines is ineffective is simply unfair.
 

Baines wasnt amazing last season (by his own high standards) but i do think he is our best delivery and dead ball man.

Not even the top players score like 15 goals from free kicks though.

We have someone who's great at it, so if this kid's great at it too - well good, competition usually gets the best out of people, right?

Yep. I'd love to see Mirallas hit more of them too, he hits a hell of a corner.
