Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

I think how Martinez deals with hype around this kid will be crucial for his development. Personally I thought he persevered too long with Ross last year and that caused the fans to turn. I hope he doesn't make the same mistake with Deulofeu. Getting the best out of Deulofeu is as much a test for Martinez as Deulofeu.

Clearly the more likely use of a buyback is he becomes quite good, there's interest in him from elsewhere, so Barca buy him back and then sell him on for free money.

I don't think it would work like this as I think that if three clubs bid £25m for him, I think Barca's clause just means that they can be a fourth club offering but would automatically get the £9m (for example) accepted. From there Deulofeu could accept one of the other clubs offers, so if he didn't want to go back to Barca he could choose Bayern or someone and we get the full price.

You're having a shocker here, mate.
I'm tired of hearing the word ' potential '.

Apart from that flash of brilliance at Arsenal and it really was a flash, i'm yet to see anything that makes me go ' wow, ok this lad can make a difference '. 2 full years out on loan to two very good teams and sat on the bench. What has changed since you last saw him ?

Just think a few of you are getting a bit carried away over this kid (understatement of the year this).

He's got bags of potential, but so did Danny Cadamartari, Michael Branch, Tony Grant etc, and remember when Jose Baxter was the next Rooney on here?

Keep it in check, you'll only let yourself down.

You are right in that people should not get so carried away, although it is also unfair to compare a player once thought of as one of the most talented prospects to come out of La Masia in recent years to Tony Grant. Reality is somewhere in between the two extremes.

Hmm.

I know this is well meaning but it's hardly conclusive proof to quote another forum.
Sorry, will retire to a small cave in Lindisfarne and accept my punishment :

They've got good sources mate.
Sheeds is one of them i know that.

They called our fixtures before anyone else too. So they definitely have a good source.
I don't doubt they're right but I suppose we'd all like an official statement.

You don't have to go that far. Anglesey will do.....

It's the fans as well, they expect to much and booing Barkley last season was disgusting

There was more than just that flash of brilliance at arsenal. His stats for goals and assists are actually very good when his game time is taken into account. He just has a lot of flaws. A bit like Barkley and even to a lesser degree Lukaku he just needs a bit of time and a lot of patience. Let's leave it for a couple of seasons before judging him harshly. He deserves a honeymoon period.
