Officially perplexed by this.
He's 19 years old and seems a prospect but thats no guarantee of anything. Where does he fit in? Jelavic, Kone, Anichebe, Vellios - thats 4 strikers on the books + this loan and the likes of Hope being included in the squad. Ok so we have been used to 4-5-1 but a 4-4-2 isnt going to create that much extra in terms of opportunities. Unless there is a plan to use him more than every other game.
I appreciate he can and has played left wing, maybe he is versatile enough to play right wing as well - and it would be nice to be able to switch up the flanks to try to draw opponents out of position (Mirallas, Pienaar, Oviedo, Deulo) but will that be in 4-5-1 and will be looking to switch strikers on the flanks when we turn possession over to go 4-3-3 with some genuine speed that more than one player can keep up with. (Dont get me wrong, word is that lad is quick, Kone is no slouch and Mirallas can blaze as well so are we setting up to see counter attacking football and do we have the midfield for it???)
This just seems so odd. One of the highly rated Spanish under19/21 flair players, brought in to fight it out in our ranks in probably the fastest and most physical league in Europe that he has no experience of before and into a side in obvious transition and in a world cup year to boot.
Yep - Perplexed.
