Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

Does anyone know how those first options work?

Because say in 5 years he wants to move on it would mean we would have to give Barca the 1st choice. Does that mean we negotiate with another team and then Barca are given the same offer?

Everton Football Club is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Gerard Deulofeu.

The exciting winger, who enjoyed a season on loan at Goodison Park in 2013/14, returns to Merseyside after the Blues agreed a fee of €6million with European champions Barcelona.

The 21-year-old will officially become an Everton player on 1 July.

Deulofeu has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract until the summer of 2018, with Everton having the option of a further year on the Spaniard’s deal. The contract includes a release clause if Barcelona make an offer to Everton meeting certain requirements within the first two years, and Barcelona also have a right of first refusal if Everton decide to sell the player.

“Gerard needs no introduction to anyone here at Everton, for we are all well aware of his incredible footballing talent,” said Everton manager Roberto Martinez.

“We got to know him really well from his loan period, not only as such a talented player but also his great character. He will be a fantastic asset to our Club.”

So sounds like Barca maintain a first refusal forEVER.

Not that I want to compare our signings to who the RS sign but...Deulofeu got 10 assists in 1, 333 minutes overall last season. Firmino got 12 in 3,191 minutes. This was while being a "flop" in a superior league to the Bundesliga.

Yep, we agree a deal with Chelsea for 25m.

We have to give Barca the option of matching that offer first.

If we accept a bid of say 15m from team A, Barca only have to match it to have a bid accepted.

What @MoutsGoat said

A winger in the England under 21s would cost twice that. Bet you if Redmond was for sale he would cost 8-10million. Shows how silly our pricing of players is
Patrick Roberts at Fulham is going to cost city over 10 mil. Ridiculously over priced british players

Where is that FCBarca bumboclart, anyway?

I would like to say that checking this thread every 5 minutes for the last three weeks has been a pleasure,
but it hasn't. My nerves are shredded. I hated every minute.

#sneaks across to 'summer transfer window' thread

(I know, I know)

What the hell do we do now then?
