Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

This is one player i'm really looking forward to seeing but i am trying to keep my expectations down as he's a young lad in a new country with a different style of league. I don't want to expect too much but all I ask myself is woukld we have signed him if he wasn't at a level ready to make a contribution.

I hope he can help Ross push on as well and a bit of his arrogance and self belief will rub off on our own young 'next big thing', I think if he can grow some confidence Barkley will be excellent.

Cannot wait to see this lad play. I don't think ill have any pants left by the end of the season.

Some interesting comments in an article on the OS from a Barcelona reporter for a Catalan newspaper:
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2013/07/19/-deulofeu-will-hypnotise-defenders-?

Some key quotes:
“Gerard has a huge amount of talent, excellent physical qualities and he is technically gifted too.”

“I think there will be some very entertaining afternoons for the Everton fans watching him. "

“I think the presence of Roberto Martinez at Everton was very important in Gerard’s decision to join the club. Martinez is a Catalan coach who for years has shown that he likes to dominate the game with possession of the ball and that is perfectly suited to Deulofeu’s characteristics as a footballer. He is a coach that has put faith in young, skillful wingers before as shown with the cases of Callum McManaman and Victor Moses, who he managed at Wigan Athletic.”

Martinez should have some fun with Mirallas.

I'll admit I was one of those unimpressed by RM becoming Manager, but this is a good bit of business, albeit for a season. Whilst the lad will move on to bigger & better things after his time here, it sends a clear message as to what RM is aiming for.

Good article in today echo about the kid, and the clause in the kid contract, we wont have to pay a loan fee if the player plays in more then 50% of everton games and how he was wanted by other massive clubs and barca and the kid chosen Martinez cos of how he like his team to play football.
