The 'Welcome Home' banner is absolutely awful, because guess what? Everton isnt his 'home', Barcelona is.

I agree. The banner was an absolute embarrassment to every Evertonian . One of this sites noted statisticians reckons there are 1 million UK based Everton supporters (and 4 million world wide) who all simultaneously cringed when photos of that nausea inducing banner were published. Maybe it was just a joke, taking a swipe at kopite behaviour....if so, it was a very poorly considered one.

How can 'home' not be literal though? Home is well, home. Welcome Back is probably more appropriate, and wouldn't have meant any less.

Again, I find myself in agreement with you. Suffice to say that by far the majority of us Blues are cowering in shame that one of our own could have hung that banner. But, there's always one rotten apple in every barrel and even Everton has it's share of clueless, cringe inducing nincompoops who cause the majority of us acute embarrassment.

Sheesh mate. I think we all agree it was a little embarrassing/cringe inducing but I think you're blowing it up out of all proportion there mate. A kid makes a welcoming banner and you want to burn him???
And btw, what's wrong with a kid being excited about football? Sometimes I think Everton supporters need to lighten up a little. Hell it's a only a game, it ain't life or death
