Totally agree, behaviour which does not befit the royal blue shirts of Everton.
I find it amazing after all this time, refs are still being conned by the most audacious swan dives and play acting. Some of it is so hammy you can spot a fake instantly, but the refs almost all blow up straight away for a foul.A lot of us have given up on the idea that the modern footballer will incorporate those types of ethics in their game. Diving is a thing now, and unless retroactive punishment or something similar is introduced, it will continue to be an element of the sport. Sure, who was it last season who got blasted for not diving? Aston Villa player I think. The win-at-all-costs mentality rearing its ugly head.

When the refs stop buying it, the dives might stop.

Yes, of course, but how about they err on the side of caution a bit more, rather than making a game changing decision on limited evidence? They might get pulled over the coals post match if they chose not to give a penalty, but better that that the other way round.I think we may have to recognise that if so many referees around the world are falling for it, it might be harder to judge on the ground with the speed and pressure that is involved in making a decision. I've made wrong calls, even with the benefits of replays, I can't imagine what it's like for them.
I've not given up mate and perhaps I am being totally unrealistic and even romantic, but the principle of fair play actually means something to me. I hate to see players trying to con referees, other players and paying spectators especially when in an Everton shirt.
A win brought about by cheating is not a win in my book.
....it's not only the diving, it's the absolute fundamentals that need to be sorted. Almost every player appeals for throw even if it's obvious they had the last touch. It just seems accepted behaviour and that could surely be stamped out.
Also, certain teams definitely have a strategy to pressurise referees. This needs to be highlighted and stamped out. I really think lots of this is achievable.
