Why can't the lad get fit?
constantly knackered after 65 minutes, was like playing with ten towards the end today
Not being able to cope with the intensity for 90 mins is a common problem for players new to the league, especially during the winter months because of the frequency of games. Add to that he is only 21 and had little playing time last season.

Despite that he still created some of our most dangerous chances and worked hard covering back.

overall i thought he played well and i'm a big fan,
it just seems crazy that he's had a year here before and at least 6 months to get prepared, maybe he needs to do a saha and learn to manage his runs instead?

and yes i agree that he created a few chances after 65 minutes but there where periods where he literally was stood there offering nothing, blowing out of his behind...
I'm not having a go as such, just frustrated as i appreciate how good he is and wish he was capable of keeping it up for 90 minutes right now

He never played over the winter last time (2 months off due to hamstring) and he wasn't starting as any matches either.

Even players like Ozil have taken time to adapt and he is much older, players of Deulofeu's age who have grown up here still struggle eg Ross last season.

Gerard has bulked up a lot and can now compete for most the game, the remaining bits will come but it won't be overnight.

He's expected to run hard and then get subbed when he starts to flag. Injuries stopped that today. He did well considering.

We looked so much better when he came more into the game in the second half.

Man of the match today.....if Lukaku (and others) had had their head in the game today we'd have won and delboy would have had 4 assists.....probably the best crosser of a ball in the league...

Hope playing the 90 minutes today (when he did look shattered last 20-25 minutes) doesn't bite us Wednesday night

One niggle -- on Swansea's second goal, he just threw his hands up and stopped playing when no handball was called (the right decision, by the way). His man (Taylor) was then the man who made the run down the touchline to set up Ayew. That's really poor play, and it isn't the first time I've seen him just stop playing for half a minute or so when a call doesn't go the way he wants. That's something he really needs to get over.

No doubting the quality of his wing play in the attacking third, but one of our biggest problems is players switching off at key moments, and he's one of the worst offenders.

Hopefully it's not in the plan to play him the whole game anyway on Wednesday, we need Lennon on to track back

Really didn't get Provan nominating him for MoM ...... the only EFC player worthy of the term today was Gareth Barry with an honourable mention to Funes Mori but in truth it should have been Ashley Williams as all our attacks seemed for flounder on him

He is putting more of an effort in getting back than in the past. I agree that too many individual errors and players switching off is what is killing us the most but I thought the second goal was more on Barry than anyone.

I'm not trying to blame him for the second goal. There's too much totting up who gets blamed for how many goals around here -- most goals are the result of a whole series of little mistakes by one side and good play by the other. It's just something I've noticed about Deulofeu (and most of the other players in the team, to be fair) and it stood out today a lot. When that handball wasn't called and I saw Del throw up his arms and stop running, I just knew something bad was about to happen. Still played really well, mind, and was definitely our most threatening attacker.
