Gerard Deulofeu

Lennon has played well but he is not as creative as Deulofeu. What has Del done wrong? maybe attitude as well - hehehe
Just like Mirallas Martinez has sacrificed him for an English player without a good enough reason - maybe good for football politics but not for the quality of Everton's football.
Our 2 most creative players have become bench warmers - sad to see.
Treating young talented players like that will make it harder for him to attract similar replacements.
Finding English players with the talent those two have would be even harder.

Maybe for lemons work rate perhaps? Maybe because changing a winning team is a bad idea. Maybe because Del had gone off the boil and he's still young. Maybe because he wants him firing for the latter stages of the cup. Maybe because Lennon likes dippy eggs like Bob and Del likes his scrambled?

work rate is like possession - it does not necessarily translate into goals -
on work rate Naismith should have been chosen ahead of Lukaku -
the team lost against a weak WBA and Martinez kept it unchanged -
Any player will go off the boil if "you take him off the stove" by benching him -
Barkley is also young - the only question should be whether you are good enough -
Keeping Mirallas for the second half of the season is an old excuse - don't come with that one for Del now
Sorry steken1 your egg reason sounds the most convincing of the lot

I agree. But Lennon has been involved in his fair share of goals recently

Anyone wanting Lennon dropped are crazy IMO... I love Gerry bit Lennon has been playing well and was MOM three games in a row. He's scoring and if lukaku passed to him after he has broke his neck to support him against Bournemouth, he would have scored again. The defence is conceding less and Coleman has been popping up in the opposition area more in the last few games. We are finally balanced and look solid. I'm not saying it's all down to Gerry , but I wouldn't change anything at the moment and I don't think you can justify dropping Lennon. He has been a model pro, waited for his chance and is now performing at a level where in my opinion, you can't drop him. Gerry will have to wait, as Lennon did, and take his chance when it arrives

I understand why he doesn't start, the team looks better with Lennon on the right, more balanced. However, I'd like to see him come on with 15 to go, to destroy tired legs.

Quite right. Work rate doesn't equal goals. A lack of it almost certainly equals goals against, our major problem.

Not sure what people want. We've been crying out for competition and we've got it to the extent a highly talented player like Del can be rested.
When Lennon wasn't playing people wanted to sell him. Now Del is on bench it's because the manager prefers English players or work rate over skill. Do either of these really ring true if you look at how he's changed the squad.
Del will be back and I can even see him in the same team as Lennon next season. Just hope this doesn't mean Lennon is next in line for abuse if his form dips a bit.
People were screaming out for quality out wide very recently. Job done.

'Work rate' for midfielders has a different impact vs strikers. A midfielder may not score so many but in hassling the defence and forcing them into mistakes can create chances for other players. We've seen this many times from Lennon; he is always on the heels of the opposition.
