Competition for places.
Theres actually only a few areas we have this:
Left Back: Baines/Oviedo + Possibly Galloway/Garbutt
Centre Back: Stones/Jagielka/Mori
Midfield: Barry/McCarthy/Besic
Right Wing: Deulofeu/Lennon
Competition may not be easy for someone like Lukaku but if were winning games and Niasse is more if a workhorse then this would give Lukaku some rest without needing to play every game like this season and also helps if any suspensions and injuries.
I can also see why Tarashaj was signed to offer this to Barkley.
I think Deulofeu will benefit from the rest and also will come back refreshed hopefully and ideally they will habe been working on his stamina and also his defensive positioning as he can be effective defensively and isnt afraid to track back but just doesnt have the positional sense yet.
Whilst we dont need a huge squad its ideal to have 22 players which is something Mourinho has always championed for competition. Deulofeu knows he is a crowd favourite and also one of the managers poster boys and hopefully keeps improving for us.
Once Deulofeu adds Stamina and defensive nous to his game he hopefully takes his game to the next level just like Lukaku and Barkley. The only thing left to add would be goals but i think he has these in him just has been told to assist lukaku this season to improve his game....and it has worked.

I really hope we see him again very soon, there is a danger his season will fizzle out like it did at Sevilla (different reasons though). Our remaining league games need to be used to try out a few ideas, put Lennon on the left, Geri on the right, you don't know until you try! Maybe give Geri a 20 min blast off the bench, playing down the middle off Rom. Anything please than seeing him on the bench.
