Our rubbish run of results coincided with preferring Lennon over Del.

actually they didn't at all... Lennon coming in was a major boost to us in our run over Feb that we went unbeaten in 7 or whatever it was and won 6 of those games.

The rubbish results occurred when the squad's key players clearly lost faith in RM (so, around early March).

Del needed dropping as he had been playing badly and looked tired. And when he did come back into the side he wasn't exactly at his best.

Looked good last week though so can only imagine it was a little niggle.

I think we're both partly correct. We didn't go unbeaten in 7 and win 6 of them, tho'.

Yeh can't remember the exact run.

It may have been 6 games, 5 wins 1 loss. Can't remember. That was when I was firmly in the belief Martinez had turned a bit of a corner. He brought it all crashing down on himself with the West Ham game.

Aye, you're right. I just checked: we won 5 in 6, including 2 FA Cup wins (Carlisle/Bournemouth). The 3 other wins were Stoke, Newcastle & Villa. The loss was in the middle of that run against the mighty West Brom. Can't say when Lennon replaced Del exactly.

5 wins in 6 games looks good on paper, but it's hardly an impressive run when you look at the opposition and then consider our results in March/April.

Lennon wasn't good enough for Spurs, but he's good enough for us and it shows in our mid-table placing.

Lennon came in for the Carlisle game mate which was immediately after the second leg of the semi against City, in which Del missed a sitter to kill the game and had a shocker. He'd looked leggy for a few games before then as well.

Lennon came in and added experience though mate and it was what we needed. An older head who knew how to cover the defence and get forward quickly and showed some great pieces of link up play. He scored against:
- Carlisle
- Newcastle
- Stoke
- Villa

he then also scored against West Ham and had a great game until he was wrongly taken off.

Lennon was the right player for us that we needed at that stage. Yesterday I think he could have been rested and Kev given a go, though as he started Besic at full back I can understand the logic in having Lennon ahead of him as well.

Fair logic that, BT

RM got him in and now rarely plays him, sounds familiar at times. Has Del said some thing so he is out of favour.

Fgs, he played loads in the first half of the season. He was dropped due to bad form and then when he came back he wasn't great either.

He came on to good effect at Wembley, and missed yesterday's game with a niggle.

Why does there always have to be some underlying conspiracy?
