he definitely needs to improve his first touch. he's still a bit nervous in the final 3rd. could have got a brace last night when through one and one and the touch was shocking. But obviously, if he had that in his locker as well as all the other tools he possesses, he probably wouldn't be here.

Just watched the match replay. Frustrated me no end with his first touch and passing.
He'll be back on the bench after that. Numerous opportunities to cause damage but was rather impotent I thought.

Still dangerous as heck though. Could have been much more in output though.
FGS he changed the game with his pace, ok his first touch is poor but with games that will come - if he had not come on early we had struggled to score he lifted the pace of the whole team he was a constant threat roving down the middle and the right could have scored two that will come !

He will probably do most damage if gets 35/40 mins each game coming on in the 2nd half as an impact sub anyhow. Just as the opposition tires send on Gerry to run them ragged.

I hope he can become a starter and consistently churn out performances, but as long as he gets a reasonable chunk of time on the pitch off the bench I'm happy enough. Just hope he is too.

To be honest, i actually thought he was pretty poor last night when he came on!!

Wasted the ball a lot and should have had a better touch a few times when he was in on goal.

He also looked knackered again after about 20 minutes and you could hear Koeman shouting at him at one point for not closing a player down on the touchline.

HOWEVER.....I am a massive Gerry fan and even when he isnt playing well he makes things happen. Bringing him on allowed us to counter more quickly and their defence were scared of the pace on both wings with him and Bolasie going at full pelt.

He badly needs to become more consistent but I recon he should keep his place for the Boro game at the expense of Ross

If he keeps improving his fitness it will benefit him too, whether be 90 or 45 mins.

I never thought we could play him, Mirallas and Bolasie in the same line-up, but they looked scarily good last night, albeit against a pathetic Sunderland side. I'd like to see them start against Boro.
The pace and directness of those 3 and Lukaku is frightening. We would rip teams apart on the counter.

I would really love Ross to learn to play the Drinkwater role and then we would be in business.

He ran at players though mate - and thus stretched the game. Him and Bolasie were just leading their defenders all over the place and that led to more space in the middle.

I too thought his 'end product' (for lack of a better term) was lacking, but overall he had the desired impact and the sub changed the game.

Chris Waddle always breathed like that he was a good player!
Also, he sprints everywhere, not jogging. You'll switch to anaerobic metabolism in no time and then have to breath off that CO2. Note that I'm not a sport scientist, just a fanny mechanic though.
