So, we need to talk about gifs.

Im wanting to prevent their embed. They're overdone and they needlessly eat data.

So, a poll. Make the decision easier for me...

I have no idea about the data usage thing. But by and large, they are funny. See Goats there for example, and the one of me and @micknick travelling to Spurs game was superb.

posting a gif simply calling someone dumb and wrong doesn't really fit in with that does it?

Someone got infracted yesterday for asking if another poster was thick, yet you think someone calling me dumb is funny. How does being in gif form change anything?

Although i should point out i'm not actually bothered about his gif, he was making a point with it and so am i, Danny Devito from Matilda can call me what he wants!

There's a time and a place for them, and when this place becomes GifOldTeam.com it will be here. Fair enough in the alehouse in moderation, but they are way overused in the Everton forum by people who don't have the smarts to actually post an intelligent opinion.

Sometimes, people do post stuff which so completly rubbish that a stupid gif is all it deserves, like pretty much anything adversus has posted in the last month.

But when it's in reply to a decent post, which the majority are, there's just no need and the bossman needs to clamp down on it i reckon.

Anyway, i'm at risk of taking this too seriously so i'm off for dinner.

Guess what? The poster received a temporary ban.

Gifs as with the typed word can be used sensibly, humorously, abusively, intelligently... etc etc and are moderated by the site accordingly.

Yeah, they can be used sensibly and intelligently, but in my opinion too often they aren't. And it just becomes crap then.
