Im wanting to prevent their embed. They're overdone and they needlessly eat data.

Yeah, they can be used sensibly and intelligently, but in my opinion too often they aren't. And it just becomes crap then.

You could say the same for a lot of the posts on the site though.

I voted yes. They used to be funny but they've been far too over done now. A load of thread turn into a gif-off and most of them are boring.

It always eats too much data and causes the page to take longer to load.

Sometimes a strong leader needs to go against public opinion sir and do what is right. It's not my job to tell you what to do but I offer my humble advice.

Only miserable arlarses would want to get rid of gifs.Even though I fit that description perfectly, I still say keep 'em.

Make 'em an infractable offence in the Everton form ( 5 points ? ) just to annoy Tommye though.

On the techie side, do we actually need to proxy gifs ? If we weren't serving them through our proxy, then maybe they wouldn't be a strain on resources ?

I get the data thing. And it's a fair point.

That said, they have a place and have given me a load of laughs.

Is there a setting option where each poster can turn gifs on/off? That way it's each of our choice.
