Someone said it was to stop the drums swamping the vocals. But everything goes through a mixer and out of the massive sound system anyrate. You aint gonna hear a drum at the back of that field without massive amplication/mixing.

It’s for the onstage sound, so the singer can hear their monitors over the drums.

Most don’t bother, will be preference of the singer and/or other band members.

Ya sometimes see the Perspex on the sides of guitar amps too, if the guitarist is one who cranks their amps.

Imagine spending money to live in a field for a weekend surrounded by people off their cake, listening to has beens like Blondie, Rick Astley, Will Young and Guns n’ Roses (whose lead singer can’t sing any more), Lewis Capaldi with no voice, then finish it off with Elton John (nothing against Elton, but everyone has heard all his songs a billion times).

Might be to tone down the immediate drums reverb in the singers mic?

Chrissy still looked good last night though. Don't think she's had any work done. And her voice hasn't changed at all.

Yes she looks good. Sharlene from Texas still looks good for her age although seems to have let any vanity gone over head

Couldn't the bass drum bleed through onto other mics that close? It might not be a necessity but it could just be a simple to do improvement.

But wouldn't that be true of any live band? I think you're right, but I've never seen it before.

Yes but it'd help. I'd imagine there's all manner of ways drummers have their kit set-up to reduce interference with other instruments.

At least at Festivals no self indulgent encores, times I've missed the last bus because hanging around for them to come back on. Good thing about seeing The Manics they always refuse to do any so 2 hours then off so on last bus home and in bed for 11
