This is always fun, my take:

Manager: Marco Silva

GK
Jordan Pickford
Jonas Lössl
Maarten Stekelenburg

RB
Séamus Coleman
Mason Holgate
Callum Connolly

LB
Lucas Digne
Leighton Baines
(Delph for emergency)

CB
Yerry Mina
Michael Keane
XXX (Zouma?)
(Matthew Pennington for emergency)

DM
XXX (Gbamin, Toussart, Bakayoko)
Morgan Schneiderlin
(Beni Baningime)

CM/AM
André Gomes
Fabian Delph
Tom Davies
Gylfi Sigurðsson
(Joe Williams for emergency DM, Bernard for emergency AM)

Widers
Richarlison
XXX(Zaha, Malcolm)
Bernard
Theo Walcott
(Henry Onyekuru pending WP)
(Nathan Broadhead for emergency)

ST
XXX (Kean?)
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Cenk Tosun

Sell:
James McCarthy
Muhamed Bešić
Yannick Bolasie
Kevin Mirallas
Oumar Niasse

Would make it 29 players, with 6 not expected to feature (Broadhead, Onyekuru, Williams, Baningime, Pennington, Stekelenburg), making it 23 in reality.

Must-buy:
1 striker (Kean?)
1 wide forward (Zaha?)
1 defensive mid (Gbamin?)
1 centerback (Zouma or other)

Players culled so far: 12
Gueye(Presumed sale). Williams(OOC), Jagielka(OOC), JJK(Loan), Vlasic(Sale), Sandro(Loan), Galloway(Free), Virginia(Loan), Dowell(Loan), Garbutt(Loan), Tarashaji(Loan), Robinson(Sale), Lookman(Sale),

Players purchased so far: 3
Lossl, Gomes, Delph

With 10 days to go, I think we need the following players :

A RB able to put pressure on Coleman
A quality CB to challenge Mina and Keane
A CM/DM to replace Gana
A left footed wing forward
A first choice Striker

The following players are almost certainly surplus to our requirements, provided of course we can attain the above :

Martina, Pennington, McCarthy, Williams, Besic, Beni, Connolly, Bolaise, Mirallas, Tosun, Niasse.

The following players ideally should be moved on, provided they could be replaced, which I doubt at this late stage :

Walcott, Snides.

And of course the issue of Onyekuru will need resolving.

That would strip the squad of "waste" and then you would hope in the case of any injury crisis that somebody from the yoot was able to step in. In light of what we all hope is a very, very busy week, a quick look at the state of play. Debated whether to take Gana out, but that would be silly, I suspect I will be taking him out very shortly tho.

Good luck and have fun.

Find it really annoying we have those 11 players surplus, still hanging around. I mean why on earth did Pennington get a new contract? Who talked anyone into that one?

But if we look at the top clubs, a lot are falling to shift deadwood, nobody has done a good job of it. All of the others in the top 6 have a few Phil Jones' that they'd love to get rid of.

We actually could do with two attackers coming in. Ideally we get DCL out on loan / sold, have two new strikers who can place pressure on each other for the attacking spot, and have Richarlison in hand as someone who can come in due to injury/suspensions as an emergency striker who leads the attack. Also get Zaha in and add some pace and virtuosity.

The end of last season we did very well against the odds of having a gummy attack. That should have been addressed right at the start of the window. Now we're in a mess.

Yeah, we do need two good striker imo, but we've got so much to do that it's not even worth thinking about now. At least if we get Kean, looking forward we have two guys in early twenties.

Going into the season with Kean, DCL and Tosun is okay i suppose, got a bit of variety there, unless someone offers us £15m for Tosun, i'd like to see us keep him at least for the start of the season. We still have richarlison and Walcott who could play up top, Gordon is highly rated and there's not much about Onyekuru leaving so maybe he'll be in the squad too as a 5th choice to all 4 attacking positions.

Get 2 strikers in?

I admire your confidence in Marcel Brands and the rest of the recruitment team at Everton to perform in 12 days, what they couldn't do for even one striker of decent quality in the last 2 years or so.

DCL is the only striker I would keep out of those 3. He may come good or not, but I can guarantee the other 2 have shown their best of their ability and I was not impressed.

If someone had put that to you at the end of last season your head would have been in your hands.

If that happens we need to have Zaha in too.

I dont expect it now. The chance has gone. He's blown it.

i'd prefer malcolm to zaha tbh and i still hold hope that brands is just playing the waiting game with barca again, the interest in Zaha does seem more concrete than i believed it would be though and the two players' prices are miles apart.

Zaha over a player withiut PL experience all day for me.

I;d be very content if we got Zaha plus a striker plus a first choice RB.

I can’t disagree with this last sentence at all.

We were told targets had been identified in early May. We are now less than 2 weeks to the first game and it seems that no matter where the transfer deadline gets moved to, clubs are still determined to gamble and make everything last minute and not be ready to go from the first month of the season.

If we get the needed players in now, and I'm sure we're in the end game now with Kean and Zaha, then ok, not terrible, one a gamble and one an overpriced but proven entity in the league. Still got to get rid of a whole pile of dross and strengthen in so many places, it's just not funny.
