Golf 2022....

Backed Lowery again this week.

Looks great and finds a way to lose again.

He'll be absolutely kicking himself how he didn't win that. Even after the mistake, he just needed to compose himself as the very next hole even with 2 awful shots he was still presented with a birdie chance

At worst he should have sunk the putt on the 17th and got himself into a playoff.

Played fantastic and for 3 holes just seemed to lose all composure.

Nobody seemed to want to win this week. The tournament was won by a guy who brain farted a tap in at 18 the day before, then threw down a number relatively early to get into a playoff with Cantlay. That's the second time this year Cantlay has taken a brutal playoff beat after missing a putt to win it in regulation.

Come to think of it, that's two straight weeks where the winner made a hash of a short putt on 18. The fields these days are deep enough that it's hard to get away with that. It's uncommon to see someone win by more than one stroke, and rare to see a margin of victory greater than two.

Crazy to think that Spieth had been out of the top 10 in the OWGR for four years until this win, dipping all the way into the 80s and 90s at the end of 2020/beginning of 2021 before hauling himself back into the top 20 with a good run of golf.

Article online from Golf Monthly suggesting Louis Oosthuizen is set to become the highest ranked player to break ranks and join the Saudi backed LIV Golf Invitational Series!
Slightly surprised, he’s still only 39 and is currently ranked 15th in World Rankings! I’d say he’s still capable of competing in the majors and the Rolex events but it’s looking like he’s opted to take his pension early!
Possibly to be joined by the likes of Garcia, Poulter and Westwood, who may all then miss out on the chance of future Ryder Cup roles!

Weather's looking ok for what will hopefully be four good days at the Belfry for the British Masters. Westwood and now Richard Bland applying for a release to play in the Saudi Invitational, can't for one minute imagine Westwood needs the money though when he says " I have to do what's right for me"!

None of them really need the extra money that is on offer. The money that is involved on the PGA tour is surely high enough, even for the lower of the top ranked players, obviously you do get to a point where it obviously isn't but it is just plain greed for the top top players.

The players that are being mentioned have been on this kind of money for years (maybe with the exception of Bland but his form in the last year or so would have got him a decent amount of prize money/sponsorship deals).
