Why are the final group going out so late. 3.40 US time and 11.40 here. Seems so much later than normal. Why they not going out at like 2, ridiculous for fans here.

West Coast. Two to three hours behind the places they normally play this tournament, on the clock. Stays light fairly late where they are in the time zone, too.

They'll probably bump it up an hour tomorrow.

I know it's the west coast but why are the final pair going out at 3.40 as that is a lot later than a standard major. Makes no sense. Surely you want more people watching it.

It probably gets NBC higher ratings. They can preempt the garbage reruns they would ordinarily put in the evening time slots in the summer, and they can run coverage all afternoon. They're also in the middle of a writer's strike, so they may be subsisting on reruns well into the fall. Buys them a week on that one.

Since NBC is the big TV contract, they're the ones driving the bus. If I remember right, they did much the same thing with Chambers Bay in Seattle a decade or so ago. I probably didn't realize it at the time, because I think I was out west when they played that one.

Very selfish of me i know, but these rare West Coast majors are boss for me to watch. I am in work till just after midnight then it will be straight home to watch this a bit more closely than the usual as i had a fiver E/W on Fowler before the start at 45s ⛳
Fowler was a good value bet, if you're into that sort of thing. Odds should have been lower. He has rounded into excellent form right now, he has a Players and he has been there before on the back nine on Sunday in majors.

He hasn't lifted a trophy in a while, though, which is how he flew under the radar. Looking at the odds more closely (I scanned them once while reading an article), DJ is the only other one that didn't look like a sucker bet going in. A bomber always wins this one, given the wide fairways.
