Golf 2024

Most of the golfers who have finished did so on lower scores than yesterday, but then again most of the golfers got kicked in the short hairs repeatedly yesterday.

The course remains less-than-accommodating for going low. It's tough out there.
As it should be at the Open. It's not a darts match.

It's usually the weather that provides the challenge in an Open. St. Andrews under sunny skies is tame. St. Andrews in wind and rain is something else entirely.

Troon got kicked around pretty good the last time out, and hasn't played like this since Watson ground out yet another Open in '82.

Stat on Sky just now……

Taking the worst score on each hole today alone, would give you an 18 hole score of 126 - unbelievable Jeff as Kammy would say!

Fingers crossed Shane Lowry and Justin Rose hang on in there for the next couple of days!

They're both good at playing in crap conditions, which is tomorrow's guidance.
The winner should be one of the three golfers who has separated from the pack, and it probably won't be the guy in the 250s in the OWGR. It's only three of them, though, so even the folks back at +2/+3 have a shot if all three out in front collapse.

The conditions for tomorrow don't look that bad right now. The leaders will be contending with some light rain, and enough wind to keep the greens from softening up. That won't be fun, but it won't be the nonsense Tom Kite won in at Pebble either.

Don't think Scheffler is out of it either.

Hardly, though he probably needs some help. If Lowry finishes 69-69, Scheffler needs 66-66 to better that, which is a big ask. Anyone under par can win, so long as the top three don't go low.

There are scores out there right now. Im is in at 66, there's a 67 in the clubhouse and Justin Thomas is four under on the day through six. The question is whether the scores will still be out there when the rain starts and the wind picks up a bit.

Tied for the lead. Didn't see that one coming.
Been watching quite a bit of golf life on YouTube recently and what a fantastic guy he comes across as. I’d be made up for him if he wins it. Absolutely mental that he’s a big West Ham fan purely because of watching Green Street!
