GOOD COVERS OF ORIGINAL SONGS

Other than their commercial success they did some great covers, you're correct regarding Jimmy Lea some good bass playing on this track,one of my fave bands from the 70's .
Went to see them in 1974 at the Mountford hall up at the Uni, cost me 30 bob, a weeks paperound money:)
 
Only found out a couple of years ago that Talking Heads once did a cover of Madness' 'Our house'. It's on one of the many compilation albums that sprang up since they split, IIRC.

Only heard it the once, wasn't bad.

Also, They Might Be Giants' cover of Devo's 'Through being Cool' is better than the original, imo.
 
Wheatus' cover of Erasure's 'A little respect' isn't bad, neither.

One for @Groucho's fact hunt - Wheatus' version actually went higher in the charts (#3) than the original (Erasure) version, which peaked at #4.
 

I'm not a fan but I think Leona Lewis sang 'run' by Snow Patrol well.

In fact even they guy from Snow Patrol thought she did a great job as well
