certainly a shame, one kiosk serving the entire lower bullens - only two staff employed to hand out the beer and whatever else. how much revenue is lost because punters like me couldnt get access to refreshments in the 10 minutes between the halves?

oh, and the bloke (the other was a lass) that was serving there was a brain dead imbicile.

yeah thats the queue, and you should have seen the poor bastards behind me, it was the same again.

i sacked it off, kinda glad in retrospect, because the gents there are so bad the european court of human rights would step in if those toilet facilities were the ones available to prisoners. i only had to go once, id probably piss in an empty chang glass if i was desperate in future.

diabolical
dickensian
disgraceful

words just cant do it.

Me and my sister went there last season against Watford, and it was [Poor language removed], a crap experience, then we came out into our seats which were 2nd to the back which was even worse, and hoped to get a glimse of the big screen, but the one by the Church was not working.

Bullens is a terrible stand and is testament to our need to move. Ask anyone who sits in that end, who doesn't usually and they will all agree.

I never bother with drinks at half time, I usually arrive at the ground early and get any drinks I want then. Once the stadium has filled up you've got no chance.

the park end is the most consistent. no obstructions and the best facilities outside the lounges and corporate areas.

the bullens has some great seats ('im alright jack') and has some very poor seats, the facilities are as bad in the gwlady (especially upper)

there are good seats, good facilities are rare, i feel the hard core fans that want to stay are the selfish ones who have the season tickets in the great specs. keioc can suck my balls.

Ok I will say it. The stadium in 66 was ok, but it was no Wembley, no Maracana. In the 80's it was good, but it was no Old Trafford.

Now its [Poor language removed], and I can't wait to move, infact I would quite happily move tomorrow if it was possible. My sentiments will vanish quicker than most because I'm being less of a romantacist and more of a realist.

What will I miss about Goodison?

- The poor pub facilities?
- The rancid toilets?
- The [Poor language removed] music?
- The poor half-time entertainment?
- Seeing sub-standard advertising boards?
- The restricted views?
- The ridiculously small souvenier shop?
- The hazy smoke the second you step out of the stadium into a bottle neck between two streets?

Now I am not being a moaning [Poor language removed], but football has to be moved on past this. The American's here may appreciate what American Football has done in terms of match day experience? Or even the Baseball games.

I used to be a season ticket holder in the 90's, and now I go three or four times a season, money permitting. I have to say, since I left my ticket in 1998, I have not seen an improvement in the experience. Its almost like time has stood still.

The music is still the same, and I know I harp on about it, but its embarassing, "What the heck do we care?" or that Status Quo [Poor language removed], its not inspiring, it really isn't. Sure keep Z-Cars, but play something like Snow Patrol, or Stereophonics Dakota pre-match, connect with the new fans and not the old.

No disrespect to our older punters, like Monty and Robert Jarvis, but we really have to aim out product at the more youthful market because like it or not they are the ones that count now and its these peeps that we have to pass the baton on to and bring us through to hopefully the golden age.

Ok, rant over.

Children are the future. :)

Hold on Ghost, I am fully behind what you and Suits say. GP is now officially crap, it has hardly moved forward unlike many of our competitors. I honestly feel also that GP was the stumbling block to getting investment. A new stadium is a neccessity, I wish it could have been in the city but the Kirkby option is affordable and will give us the new ground we so desperately need. If you look at matches played on tele throughout the divisions I have seen grounds of some lowly clubs which although may only seat 20K have unobstructed views.

So just because I have a few more years under my belt, please don't label me as a luddite.

your no luddite, you have suffered through goodisons inadequacies longer than most and therefore have the best take on how it has stood still and become a set of manacles to the club it hosts.

im concerned that kirkby wont have the pubs and i will be honest, im very very worried about a few thousand sets of opposite fans all getting on the same train/s at lime street. chilling, shame goodison pints arent so chilled.

I never labelled you a luddite, but you guys have given more to the club then most of us and now you need to relax and enjoy the ride. Us young folk have to take the club forward, and I would expect my children and my grandchildren to do the same.

Basically what I am saying is, we don't cater for all walks of life and we are stuck in the old days, hence why we have to move, and are moving. Thankfully we now have a board with vision.

Thanks Ghost, now just a minute where is my Churchill speech. Ah here it is "We shall ..............."

Seriously when I first started going to games, GP was one of the top grounds in the country, could hold over 75000, yes that many, compare it now. In my time of going, seat have been put in, another tier was added to Goodision Road and it was given warehouse cladding, got rid of the boys pen, Park End was redone and reasonably well but small. However the toilets and bar never changed in that time but a restaurant was added. When you look at it not much change for 50 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!

s stood still.

[Poor language removed] me...I'd support someone else if they were playing insipid [Poor language removed] like snow patrol before a match.

"what the heck do we care?" - figured thats where the name of this website's from.

We can modernise and improve facilities but lets not destroy our illustrious heritage in order to appeal to a demographic.

Why not play in camoflage instead of royal blue? It'd appeal to the kids.

As for inspiring. Every time I climb the steps and see that famous pitch below me, hairs stand up on the back of my neck. That same magic has grabbed thousands. Our stadium is unique. Yes we have to move for economical reasons and yes - in a customer sense its totally wank (unless you are prepared to miss 15 minutes of the match you can forget a pie and a pint)- but we have history, we have something that money can't buy.

All the flashy computerised advertising hoardings (which I [Poor language removed] cant stand) and the latest pop crap pumped out over the crowd to mask a lack of atmosphere (see old trafford) does not make for a true football ground.

Emirates Stadium looks fantastic but I believe Pele, Eusebio and Best as well as Dixie all played at Goodison, that is football gold.

theres roots and theres gloss, when did z-cars arrive and why?

we are into the minuscia, (sp) and sometimes its the little details that count.

i'd be beligerant, z-cars and thats it, force the fans to get cooking. none of this man city bull [Poor language removed].

Yeah but its not 1966 its 2007, its time we moved on. If we cling to our history, we won't have a future. Its that simple.

And come on Status "we play the same [Poor language removed]" Quo or Snow Patrol? Please.

Ok, why don't we play All Together Now from 95, that used to get me going for the game, now I just cringe when I hear some geriatric scouser singing "Grand Old Team". The fans version is better because it sounds better. Listening to the censored version is like taking all the swear words out of Pulp Fiction.
