Gosling lost due to more boardroom incompetence.

He will never be able to dictate a game, he doesn't have the attributes, and he never has done. He's going to get stronger and improve, no doubt, but his footballing ability won't change all that much, and he isn't all that gifted in this area. He's got the potential to be a decent Premier League player but he was never going to break into our starting eleven.

Good luck to him though.

I'm a little confused at how many folks here are writing Gosling off as inferior to our needs, or just simply 'a squad player'.

It's worth remembering that Gosling is still only 20 years old. He has huge experience for a player of that age, and is extremely versatile. He has at least a few years left before he will actually physically stop growing, nevermind developing as a footballer. As a 20 year old player, I don't know too many of that age in the league that are better, so let's not go down the 'not good enough' road just yet.
We have lost a tremendous young talent if we have lost him, and there can be no mistake about that, regardless of how much we try to make it seem unimportant.

Didn't mean to sound like i'm writing him off. He's alright. Just never been high in my opinions

Just doesn't strike me as a young player with the potential i would want. He doesn't have the 'Rodwell Factor' if you like.

But as has been said. He's gone now anyway.

Goodness me!!!

How the **** did this all happen????

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that artice in the mirror!

Get a grip kenwright!(n)

Blatant incompetence on the clubs part. Inexcusable and a damn right disgrace.

Sure, you could point the finger at Gosling and say he has been a bit of a snide, but he shouldn't have been allowed to have been in that position.

First we jeopardise his career by telling him to jog off a ruptured his cruciate knee ligament and then we leave him in the lurch by hovering a contract over his head for god knows how long, presumably until we could assess his fitness after injury.

A marquee signing, hefty signing on fee, improved wages and an almost guaranteed starting place at another Premiership club. He'd be a fool not to leave.

Good points, and even if he wanted to leave, we could've sold him and raised some money to give to Moyes. Shame really, good move for him though, he does need first team football.

I would put my life savings that Everton will be the high point of his football career.

As Moyes said "those that leave Everton, it generally doesn't work out for them".

For me, his ability/potential ability doesn't come into the equation. Either does Goslings behaviour. Whatever way you look at it, we've effectively pissed away a few million through incompetence.

We invested money into him and more importantly, time and development.

Balls up.

So it looks like we've lost Dan Gosling due to more incompetance by Kenwright and his useless cronies in the boardroom.

Great eh? Its cost us a transfer fee. Oh and the services of a fine young prospect.

No doubt the Chicoazuls of this world will come on and defend our consistently Bungling chairman.

"He's ace". Yeah right. Ace at cocking everything up.

Let me choose my words carefully here Lee.

You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Would this be the same "more boardroom incompetence" that led to"

1) The hiring of Moyes
2) The gradual improvement of the squad from the days of Walter Smith
3) European qualification under Moyes
4) The signings of Arteta, Cahill, Saha, Yakubu, Jagielka, Baines, etc....
5) The successful loan of Landon Donovan

...and I could go on and on.

Face it, you don't have a leg to stand on. Get lost.

Plymouth will be peed off too as they don't get any sell on fee. What a massive balls up all round.

Hey hum [Poor language removed] happens.

When's Ben arfa signing?!

I'm fuming. Gosling the legend. FFS. You know how they can make this all ok?

When are we signing Moutinho from Porto?!!

This x a million per cent.

Note to Dan Gosling What was the name of the guy who left us last year, any way he had a big career at City and now they want shot of him. just remembered his name is LESCOTT:( Do not change clubs Dan just change your agent. Our club should put a statement out and clear this matter up before it drags on all summer.
