I wouldn't mind taking up a sport again. The only ones I'm not truly awful at are tennis, golf and badminton.

Golf memberships are at least £800 a year it seems. Jib that. There's two local tennis clubs here though, one hard court which is £100 a year, and another one which is grass courts but probably a lot posher and more snobby, which is £250 for the year.

Don't see the attraction of golf. Doesn't give you the benefits you get from other sports. Doesn't make you fitter, rubbish social and if anything it probably raises blood pressure. Lots of standing around and you need to give it so much time to get any good at it.

Not a bad shout. There's squash courts at my gym too. I fancy doing something outdoors though.

On a warm sunny day, providing you're playing alright it can be really nice. It takes an awful lot of skill too so when you do hit a shot sweetly it feels rather good!

I can see the attraction of golf, but lets not kid ourselves that it is any more of a exercise in fitness than darts or bowling.
I have found that the key to having a good relationship with sport and fitness it to find something that you enjoy doing - something that you can obsess over. Doing sport just for the sake of it to get your minimum quota of weekly exercise is never sustained if you hate what it is you are doing. Do sport and exercise firstly and foremost because you enjoy it!

I'm loving my new gym. I wonder how long that'll last. The single most annoying thing though is that it is possibly the worst gym I've ever been to for people not putting their weights back. Yesterday I found a dumbbell literally about 50 metres from the free weights section, and a bench FFS. Fortunately there's 2 or 3 sets of most weights.

Where are you training now mate?

Rubbish social ? I take it you've never been golfing with the lads and threw a crate in the back of your golf cart

Lots of standing around ? Time to actually drink some of that crate.

You're doing it wrong mate

Yeh its me haha, how long you been going there for? Good time to start there anyway its all been done up

Only a week or so. Yeah I was quite pleased with that, I've been before on a mate's guest pass and it was decent then but it's really good now. The free weights section whilst good is an absolute mess though, winds me up a bit lol haha

Oh really, like what?

I'm just glad to have dumbbells which go above 27.5kg! I'd badly plateaued in the gym I was at before but it was so cheap! Yeah full of sleeve tattoos, caps on backwards and Gold's gym vests. Makes me laugh

Just had a power rack which has dissapeared, and some other like free weight things.

Yeh im in a bit of a rut at the moment too, seem to be going backwards if anything. since my mate stopped going find myself less motivated really

Just had the new Chicken Louisiana thing from McDonalds, weighed a fair bit so that counteracts the calories going in.

I've been going to the gym alone for as long as I can remember now, but it is good to have someone to go with. A good gym buddy doesn't let you slack off! I've got a mate who lives on my road who goes to it too but we go at different times and he's at least 30% stronger than me in all areas!
