The 5 stone I lost a few years ago is now pretty much all put on again, bar 6lb. Fat camp starts this week. I’m nearly out of breath typing this lol.
here is some thinspiration for you from my mate tyson

Picked up a virus a week or so ago and was sick a few times. Proving hard to shift. Feeling okay to do everyday stuff but probably 20% off with training at the moment.
Had a chest infection I couldn't get rid of for two weeks, felt like I was training altitude. Feel really good now and glad I pushed through but I wonder if it would have left me quicker had I rested

Ran my 3rd Trail 5k race at the weekend. Came 30th out of 188 and my time was a full min faster than my first trail run. Not bad for a 43 year old who smoked for 20years.

I know I'll never get near the top 10 with all the younger runners but top 30 I'm well chuffed at.

I'd never done trail running before this year as I was always out on the road instead after completing a couch to 5k a few years back. really glad I got into them now.

I`ve been trail running for the best part of 30 years mate and although I`m not high end, I`ve learnt a lot over the years - training, gear, events etc.

I don`t race competitively, as to race against others / the clock takes away all the enjoyment of trail running for me.

The stuff I enter is tough, without being competitive - no cut off times etc.

I`m doing three half marathons next year - Coniston, Bala and Delamere Forest, with a view to doing a 28 miler in 2020 ( Man v Lakes ).

There`s loads and loads of races out there, from massive events, to small local ones, depends on how far you want to run.

Tough Mudder (10 miles ) is great laugh and a good one to start off with if you want to up the ante.

The really big one in trail running mate, is your shoes - you need two pairs ( at least, I`m currently using four ! ) : One for heavy ground / mud and one for hard ground.

If you wear the same pair for everything you`ll injure yourself eventually, as the shoes are so specific for the ground you run on and make all the difference.

If you want to know anything let me know ;)

The races I'm doing @COYBL25 are a series called Born2Run over here in Northern Ireland. Its 8 races of either 5k or 10k distance. I'm not going to go over the 5k distance this year as its just about getting the body used to the terrain. Good advice on the shoes though. I've got a pair of trail and a pair of cushioned trainers for trail running. Another pair for road running too

What make are you using for trail running, as trail shoes are the weirdest fit of any shoe ?

With nearly every brand, you need to at least " half a size up " > so if your a 9, you need a 9.5.

This is to allow for your socks getting wet and feet to swell.

Some brands have a really wide toe box, others are very narrow > get it wrong and you`ve got really sore feet / cramps.
