a few years ago I would of just let them heel and been bang at it again, now I'm thinking about hanging the gloves up as they say. Will probably give the doctors a bell tomorrow and get some pain killers.

Ive had quite a few injuries in the past, neck, shoulders, elbow, knees but this one is the worst pain.

Only you'll know how you feel mate, good luck with it as I know you like your contact sports. You'll be out for about six weeks here though. Good point from madd there, have you sneezed yet? Lucky you're a tough lid. I acted dead sound over the ribs like it was no thing but felt like crying on the sly.

Went the docs mate got some co-codamol and taking it with Ibuprofen. They have no idea how bad the damage is and I can't be arsed going for an x ray. changed my mind about giving up, just want to get back to it ASAP now. Cheers for the advise mate its appreciated.

Thankfully I didn't get the coughing bout, but I remember sneezing!

Still it could be worse, you could have slipped your disk! [Poor language removed]! :)

I know some seriously tough fellas that have been wiped out with a slipped disc so can't disagree with you.

Lost on a decision the other night in the boxing event I posted about the other day.

Really enjoyed the experience, a fantastic buzz and it was worth all the many hours I have put in at the gym.

The guy I fought was about 28 so had about 15 years on me, had fought before, about 3 inches taller than me and had plenty of ring craft, so not quite the "white collar" fight that I had signed up for. Still glad I did it though, a lot of people thought it was a draw and a bit harsh that he got the decision.

Never again! :)

They never are. My mate went in with an MMA fighter! He didn't know, and it was supposed to be a Police against Fire Brigade event, the MMA guy didn't even work for the police. Thankfully my mate won, but that had more to do with having an ex pro to spar with who absolutely took him to task on his fitness.

Well done though, takes some balls to step in there, and I'm sure you've gained a lot of confidence and self esteem from the experience.

Just done the weights today. Is it normal that only one of my upper arms are hurting? (My strongest one) or am I just weird?

Very weird, or it might just depend on what other 'extra' activities you've done with that arm of yours today........

All joking aside, both should hurt, but if you're dominant on one side you might find that you favour it. Really depends how long you've been training for, and could be a sign of a strain too. Ice it, give it a few days and see how it feels. Typically if one is sore though, both arms should be sore.

Horrific? What did you do?

Mind you your clavicles can get a bit sore when you start.

Just make sure you keep as perfectly upright as you can, and push your knees forward and out hard.

That was it mate, well sore round that area, used to it now tho. Will this develop shoulders etc. at all?

Nope, it just rests on them

Push press is good for shoulders, and isn't taxing on the rotator cuff. Add some cuban presses in, and you're onto a winner. Mix it up with a month or two of light presses behind the neck for 5-10 sets of 10, and that should be enough to start with.
