GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Reckon in terms of draw Cena v Goldberg and Reigns vs The Fiend would have been similar to what it looks like is going to happen.

I think the major reason they've done it is that it probably stops Reigns' from being booed as much when he wins. This is the completion of his return from cancer and WWE/Vince will want to finish on a feel good moment with Reigns as champion with Goldberg shaking his hand. If Reigns beat the unbeatable Fiend there would be a huge chance of the crowd hating it and "ruining" the moment.

Yeah fair point...my main issue with the two matches they've decided to go with is both are now easy to predict, and I prefer Mania matches to be unpredictable, which I think the Fiend vs Reigns would have been...

But going forward after Mania... Reigns, Wyatt, McIntyre and Baszler will all be bigger stars...

McIntyre since hes been back has been long overdue to be at the top,i just hope they dont have him lose in mins to Brock, though reports over the weeks have him to actually beat Brock

So the mania matches are set , all revolving around money rather than who they employ.

It's sad to see wwe sell out to that extent. You hang your hope on them having builds and rewarding their wrestlers but as cm punk pointed out, they will always give star billing to the ones who don't deserve it.

What state is the company in now? You sell the most t shirts = you get pushed. Eliminating the point that you can't sell merch if you are buried each week. Mania rather than being the final show of the year where story's come to an end it's about who can draw , from a small pool now. Cena/rock/edge/Lesnar / Goldberg have to be the main event with reigns a shoe in as a contender.

Even the elimination chamber match, potentially one of the best matches of the year isn't even factored in anymore. No title matches , no build up etc. I was hoping reigns Goldberg would be next week setting up a different mania but I guess not.

I think McIntyre 100% wins...there's no fued they can go with for Lesnar after this right now...... Whereas McIntyre has Rollins, AJ, Orton, and Andrade, which can be a good run as champ...

They've been doing this for the last 8 years now... Wrestlemania has been built around Taker, Rock, Lesnar, Cena, HHH, Shane McMahon, Goldberg, Batista and Ronda Rousey.... All part time or Old returning talent..

I agree with what your saying, but until the new talent can get properly over, and the wrestling industry pick up again in popularity, this approach from Vince will continue... Was the same story when he would bring back Hogan, Piper, NWO, Flair, Bret Hart when they were all past their prime...

They tried with Reigns, fans rejected him... They tried with Rollins, fans rejected him...
They tried with Rousey, fans rejected her...

The current talent who are getting buried, are also getting paid really really well all year round to do a job they all say they love... Largely due to eyes Old talent bring to the product....

After Wrestlemania, McIntyre will get the ball to run with on Raw, and they'll see how it goes, if ratings pick up or not... And in Smackdown they'll run with Reigns again... Wyatt doesn't need to be in the title hunt that often, the same as Taker didn't need to be years ago...
Well written and I agree with it all mate but the crux of it all I highlighted in bold. New talent find it nearly impossible to get over as the spotlight is taken off them at the biggest stage of them all. Short term thinking and failure to properly elevate the right talent has left WWE in the position where it has to rely on heritage pops now to get mainstream attention.

Yeah I agree to a point... But right now who on the current roster has enough personality to replace Goldberg, Taker, Cena, Lesnar?...

Vince and creative writers can only do so much for talent.... End of the day, a wrestler needs to do his part... When Austin walked to the ring, he always looked like he was walking into a shoot fight... Lesnar is the same, Goldberg also.... Most of the greats did...
Kofi comes out throwing fkn pancakes, Kevin Owens talks about how he was an Edge fan when he was young....loads of wrestlers openingly talk about how they idolised HBK, or Austin, Or Hogan. Well guess what lads, when HBK etc were wrestling they weren't talking about who they idolised as kids, they did that when they were retired. When they were wrestling they talked themselves up, and acted like they were legit tough guys.

Wrestlers today go on YouTube shows and play video games... If they don't act like bad asses, they ain't gonna get over as a bad ass..... I'm a big believer in that all the greats were just louder versions of their own personality....
Everyone's nice today... It's great behind the scenes, but is boring when it comes to the wrestling industry....

I think Moxley will win the AEW Title tonight, though it seems a shame in a way as I think The Inner Circle hasn't reached it's peak yet and Jericho is probably the most over he's ever been.

I think what I like most about tonight's card is the results aren't predictable, most could go either way. Adds to the drama for me.

Interested in potential surprise appearances also.

Great, great ppv. Except for the main event, every match was very good (skipped the womens match tho). Hangman Page is going to be a star.

I liked the main event, I just think it had several tough acts to follow. I genuinely think that Omega and the Bucks were surprised that none of them were the most over wrestler in that ring, they should have improv'd and turned the Bucks heel there and then, Page is an absolute hit

It was an okay match, I just wasn't into the story (the eye injury thing just isn't believable, and the ending "twist" was very predictable imo). Not a fan of them booking Mox as this unbeatable superman either.

Don't feel they've done that, he's taking huge pastings and hitting the paradigm shift out of nowhere for the scrappy finish. I think they should've played with expectations there, giving him more offence actually might have made the finish less predictable
