Read about Ric Flair's release from whatever contract he had, expected some sort of tribute to him from WWE, a really respectful tweet at the very least.
But...
That's just... weird. It's Ric Flair and he's treated with less respect than Bo Dallas.
Weird, weird company.

At this point I can only suppose that McMahon is trying to make Tony Khan spend so much money hoping that the mans Dad will pull the chequebook away like Dixie Carter's family did to her. Because there has to be a reason he's just letting so much talent go and potentially destroying the morale of the guys and gals he's got left. Cuts happen and talented but underutilised people get let go in wrestling, twas ever thus. But this amount of talent all being let go around the same time is just bizarre. There has to be a reason for it that goes deeper then finances.

That really does speak volumes about how WWE perceives AEW. They signed those guys to massive contracts when they didn't know what AEW would be but they now feel safe enough to let loads of them just go? They clearly think AEW will never be true mainstream competition. If Khan and AEW want to prove people like McMahon wrong they best get themselves together for Punk and Danielson because having embarrassing talentless garbage like Nick Gage on their show along with some of the cringeworthy "comedy" and the total lack of rules won't help them have any credibility nor will it help to keep the former fans/casuals around who will no doubt tune in for the debut those guys.WWE is cleaning house because they’re cleaning contracts they handed out to combat people going to AEW, not trying to sabotage AEW.

They've done incredibly well for a startup promotion to get as big as they have so quickly but if they ever want to move beyond attracting hardcore fans they need to have their shows make more sense. Dynimate is great at times but its borderline unwatchable other times. Some fans are just willing to overlook all the rubbish they put out because its not WWE. Casual fans or former fans that have might come back won't just lap all this up. They'll tune in watch a show or two and tune out and never return.Nah, they’re cleaning house for a sale, it’s been obvious for 12 months. It’s easier to keep someone doing nothing for 250k than 500k if you doubled their contract - which they did for a lot of people
Plus, do they really think letting Bryan go is a good idea? They tried to get a NJPW partnership to prevent him leaving/going to AEW so he could work in Japan. Now, I don’t know about you, but doesn’t sound like the actions of someone not worried
AEW is competition, for all they want to say otherwise. They compete for TV deals just like WWE. Downplaying AEW’s success at this point is simply stupid, be it from wwe or fans
Maddening how Goldberg just strolls in and gets title shots and main events every time. Tired of the heritage acts with nothing to offer.
Innocent until proven guilty of course, but that's just...disappointing.
