GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

That pop was tremendous and Punk is still the best in the world on the mic. What a return, he's been sorely missed.

Now let's hope AEW rises to his level, instead of dragging Punk down to the level of the rest of the roster.
That was Brilliant, never skiped a beat on the mic - no Superstar is better on the Mic than CM Punk, Glad they kept that Entrance music as well

Seeing Punk after all this time was amazing, a really special moment. You just don't see many reactions like that anymore.

I did have to laugh at how AEW followed it up though. They finish that incredible segment with the entire area signing cult of personality, its loud, really loud, its a real holy crap moment and then Excalber goes "and now we send it to Christian Cage and Jungle Boy". Lmfao.

Unbelievable pop. That roof was clinging on

Seen the Reigns interview, about CM Punk not "moving the needle" like Austin/Rock did?

Which is technically true - he didn't reach those 'levels' in terms of pure pop culture reaction. But he moved the needle in a different way; in terms of just being purely authentic, someone fans could buy into 100% and not be embarrassed about. Every promo completely believable, a fire in his eyes - he did that beyond Austin, Rock and certainly beyond the 'watching paint dry' mess that is the heavily scripted Reigns.

No other wrestler would get that pop. He's one of a kind. The only equivalent in the 'type' of wrestler he is is Bret Hart, but less technical yet a thousand times more charismatic.

It wasn't that Punk didn't move the needle; it's that WWE didn't want the needle moved in that way. They wanted the next Cena/Rock, which is their prerogative.

I know what you’re saying and agree but the interview was clearly a work. So many weirdos getting wound up about it on Twitter (not really a surprise as wrestling Twitter is horrendous). As if Reigns is going to come out a day before that happens and not have a go. He’s hardly going to come out and say “yeah CM Punk was great and I wish him well.”

Also, on another point, he hasn’t moved the needle like Austin did and while that pop was amazing, it wasn’t a glass shattering return pop.

Did he mention them specifically? Because if you set that bar for anyone other than the Rock or Austin and maybe classic Hogan, you will come up lightyears short. There will never be another star in that bracket again imo, but that doesn't mean you can't have a superstar who will bring in big money for your company.

AEW's booking is patchy af, so some caution is needed before declaring anything yet, but anyone who doesn't think this is an enormous step forward for AEW as a business are kidding themselves

CM Punk is massively over rated imo never got the hype over him in WWE.

Decent performer and above average on the mic but not on the same level as your Stone Colds, Rocks, Triple H, Michaels, Undertaker, Cena etc.
