Anyone advocating Potter hasn’t seriously looked at him.

His teams don’t score goals, he even struggled with Chelsea. We don’t have the players to play his preferred formation. He doesn’t deal well with pressure and found it difficult at Brighton at times.

we aren’t getting him mate ;)

smoke n mirrors he will be west ham’s

and hopefully we’re talking to our man now

I'm in the No camp here. Potter plays free flowing possession based football. Our shower can't string 3 passes together! Maybe with a full pre season and a bunch of new players it would work, but trying to change to his style mid season with our crop of wasters is a recipe for disaster.

Nice city is Barcelona.

Agree. Same applied to Bielsa few seasons back. Nice idea in theory. The reality is that this group of players are so limited they'll literally implode going from Dyche to any form of actual football based manager.
If this is the case then what do we do? No point in sacking Dyche to replace him with another anti-football merchant.

Surely the hope has to be that we can somehow get this squad + whoever we manage to sign this month playing actual football.

'West Ham offered chance to appoint two world-class managers'

Latest from Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

West Ham have been offered the chance to appoint two “world-class” managers who both have Champions League experience.

One of the managers has recently won his domestic league and Super Cup. Both managers are keen to move to West Ham.

West Ham have interviewed three managers to replace Lopetegui.

West Ham are currently in negotiations with Graham Potter, but not everyone is convinced he’s the right man for the job.

West Ham are not offering Julen Lopetegui any guarantees he will be in charge on Friday for the FA Cup third round tie away at Aston Villa.
Fonseca is one.

I think we have. We cant be replacing Dyche and paying compo. So IMO we will be looking at managers out of work. I would love someone completely off the radar.
"It was the only job I would consider..."

Blah blah media, blah, clickbait, blah blah, speculation, blah, fills columns, blah, lazy reporting, blah

Surprised anyone bothers to read the media, yet alone believes it.

We'll know when it's announced.

Devils advocate…he built Brighton into something stable in this league and with the legs kick on after he left. His sides didn’t score loads but they didn’t concede at a high rate either. A bit of balance is needed at the moment.

That's the spirit, Chris. What should we talk about on an Everton forum? Mints?

Thing is I don't agree they can't play any other way mate.

Yeah some are rubbish on the ball, others are just suffering from an appalling system and likely training as well.

Break them down individually though just by looking at how they played under a different system - prior to getting here.

Pickford - distribution one of his best attributes when he's not instructed to just hoof it to the striker
Branthwaite - clearly a very good technical player - it's why he got games at PSV
O'Brien - played a high line possession based system at Lyon, regarded coming here as a good technical CB
Garner - at first was there fulcrum/pivot player, very good technique
Tim - just on his first Gabe's bere clearly good on the ball.
Gueye - good enough technically to get games at PSG - even I the water carrier give it to so done better role.
Mangala - looks solid technically - his speeds the major issue
McNeil - frustrating as hell but technically ok.
Harrison - played under Bielsa as an every game starter
Lindstrom - played in a very expansive Frankfurt side under the palace coach - technically good
Ndiaye - bit of a maverick and passing looks wonky at times but great technique on the ball

Yeah I'll give you Mykolenko, and whoever plays RB are either badly faded now or junk. Tarks is t great technically either and hard to say on the CFs due to how we see them playing under Dyche.

But we do have players who have shown to be able to play a system other than a 30-35% possession game were they look terrified of the ball.

There XpG was ridiculous as well - they just had really bad finishers up front - but they created a shed load of very good chances (Maupay ughhhh)

It's unfortunate that we are (hopefully) looking for a manager at the same time as West Ham, as we are definitely the less attractive of the two posts.

Dunno mate if we are - for any manager wanting a long term project we go into the summer with pretty much hardly any baggage remaining from the host of different managers and DoFs remaining.

New stadium custom built to be one of the best grounds in England if not Europe, prospect of major investment in the playing staff - owners who don't seem to be ones sticking their nose in but letting the people they appoint run that side of things.

I feel west ham are more like we were around the time of sacking Koeman etc,
