Great Drummers

Best of all time imho. Great voice too. Have you heard the two albums he did just before he died with Larry Campbell and Amy Helm? They’re a bit country but really good. His voice sounded very different after radiotherapy but his drumming was even better than before.
I haven't,I knew he'd done something with his daughter but I haven't got round to it.

That can be my homework this week👍

I will die on the hill that Dave Grohl is completely wasted as a front man. That fella is one of the greatest drummers to ever do it.

The amount of drum hooks that he wrote when he was in Nirvana is ludicrous and you know they're good when you're competing with Kurt Cobain for the spotlight and you still stand out.

Maybe I'd feel different if I were a musician myself, but with drummers and guitarists alike I've always found that I like the ones who blend into the music more than the ones who stand out. May get negged into oblivion for this, but never been a SRV fan myself. Same with Kenny Wayne Shepherd (not as famous, but local). Feel the same for drummers.

Back on topic: Son2 who knows more than me is a fan of Ringo, Grohl, Copeland, and the lesser Van Halen. I quite like Phil Selway.

It’s amazing how many drummers are now sampled in the studio, so just playing sections of songs at a time, to make sure the timing is perfect
songs are often recorded in sections, certainly since the advent of DAW recording software, its a shame if they are using it to make sure the drummer is bang on the beat as it adds depth to a track if the drummer/bass is fractionally ahead/behind the beat. Needs to be consistent and planned though rather than just crap timing
