Groucho's Fact Hunt

Brian Josephson discovered quantum tunnelling in superconductors in 1962 when he was 22 years old and doing his PhD at Cambridge, and won the Nobel prize for it in 1973. The 'Josephson junction' in superconducting devices is named after him to this day.
In the intervening 33 years, he has dedicated his career to talking a colossal amount of bollox on para-psychology, telepathy, homeopathy, and cold fusion. An awesome demonstration of NEA to the entire scientific community, but really sad that such an amazing mind could get lost like this.

One study found that men who were hungry preferred women with higher body weights. Researchers suspect this happens because of an evolutionary response to resource scarcity; in other words, a heavier woman advertises access to more resources, such as food.

Does this mean it's nothing to do with 10 pints of Stella?

Tip - just get a large Kebab on the way home.

Carbon dating? Remains found in the area giving them comparable dates? I'd have thought it was pretty straightforward (in their line of expertise).
I wouldn't have thought so easy tbh.

Can't date when the Rock was quarried really, plus remains or whatever could be from any time. I wouldn't have thought it would have taken 1500 years to build. The Great Pyramid was estimated to have taken 10-20 years.

Stonehenge started circa 3100 BC - Great Pyramids started circa 2630 BC - Looks like Egyptian gangmasters mastered the whip in them 500 years

I also think 1500 is a bit of a stretch, but I'm sure archaeologists have a good handle on dating stuff.

Some facts about Dixie Dean.

1. Dixie's pre-match 'refreshment' was a glass of sherry mixed with two raw eggs.

2. Dixie was the first player ever to wear the number 9 when. numbered jerseys were introduced for the 1933 FA Cup Final.

3. At the peak of his career, Dixie's wage was eight pounds a week.

4. On a pre-World War II Everton tour of Germany, he refused to return the Nazi salute, insisting that the rest of the team did the same.

And City played in red.
