Ingrid Pitt spent three in the Nazi concentration camp of Stutthof. Just before liberation by the Russians she was forced into a gas chamber. She was in there for hours until let out due to a mechanical malfunction. She was led into nearby woods by the SS to be shot but thanks to passing allied planes firing on the guards she managed to escape and spent the rest of the up to liberation with partisans. She was 5 years old when first entering Stutthof with her mother.

Later, when first starting her acting career in East Berlin, she was tipped off that she was to be arrested by the Stasi due to her outspoken anti communist views and fled to W.Germany by swimming the river Spree.

Sadly now known only as rhyming slang.

British printer, John Shepherd - Baron ( OBE ) , based his idea on a chocolate vending machine that dispensed money instead of chocolate.

The user inserted a pre issued form of cheque into the machine and received the amount on the cheque from the machine.

The first customer to use the machine was Reg Varney from On The Buses !
