Groucho's Fact Hunt

Future Everton coach Stewart Imlach played for Forest. He was part of Cattericks team during our 1969/70 championship season. See also Stan Osbornes book Making the Grade. He didn't like Stan did he?
Stewart Imlach was Gary Imlach's dad. For those under 45, Gary Imlach was the commentator when American Football first came over to Channel 4. He still does the Tour de France commentary I think. He also wrote a very good book called "My Father And Other Working Class Football Heroes" which I read this year.

A very good biography of his Dad. I liked the bit where his Dad Stuart brought the Championship trophy home to show the kids after we won it.
Recommended read.

In 1973 Gene Sarazen, became the oldest player to score a hole in one in a major championship, playing at Troon. An hour earlier on the same hole, a 19yr old Amateur called D.J. Russell, became the youngest.
