Surely palindrome’s is two words. What’s wrong with palindromes?

palindrome's (in this instance) is a contraction of two words 'palindrome is'...and it grammatically/syntactically works better.
Certainly "palindromes: a semordnilap" fulfills

to summarise: 'palindrome' isn't a semordnilap , 'palindromes' is a semordnilap, and 'palindrome's a semordnilap' is a palindrome
