Groucho's Fact Hunt

In 2013, Professor of Genetics - Brian Sykes and Vet / TV presenter Mark Evans, engaged on an investigation into the validity of the existence of the Yeti and Big Foot.

Whilst in the Himalayan region of Tibet / Nepal they were presented with two sets of hair samples that had been recovered in the mountains by indigenous people of the area who lived some 800 miles apart. The hair samples were analysed at Oxford University by Prof Sykes and found to be a 100% match to the DNA of Polar Bear / Brown Bear hybrid that lived in this region approx one hundred and twenty thousand years ago.

Even though the hair samples had been recovered following sightings of the Yeti, the hair samples are not accepted by science as conclusive proof of the existence of the Yeti due to need to rule out cross breeding between modern Polar Bears and Brown Bears.

Before the invasion of pumpkins from the Great Satan Halloween used to be celebrated with lanterns made out of hollowed turnips, carved with ugly faces to represent goblins.
These were known as spunkies.

A popular rhyme of the the time went :

It's spunky night, it's spunky night
Gie's a candle, gie's a light
If 'ee don't, 'eell have a fright

Such innocent times:)

Cool just had a flashback, we used to hollow out Turnips when I was a kid for Halloween, Jesus Christ they took ages to do but the smell was great when u lit the candle inside, looked well scary as well.
