I thought Acosta and Shaq in particular were woeful. That’s what you get from two MLS subs.Another massive data point for the Gregg Berhalter Bare Minimum Theory. I'm sure he will play for pennos with the Dutch.
I took Deuce's comment about the US subs to mean they played bad, not they were bad decisions. Wright and Acosta did nothing. Thought the defense held up quite well even though MLS defenders make me want to tear what's left of my hair out.
When will they be arriving at the tournament?Hes not English, he was born in America, moved to Italy and lived in England and Spain, now clearly his time in England made him what he is, but hes not English.
If anything hes Ghanian, but of course, hes whatever nationality he wishes to be known as.
And LOL, I know its bait, but this forum doesnt have the bandwidth for me to list the English midfielders better than him.
Because contusion sounds scary and bruise sounds like he’s being a little baby. Why can't they just say bruise?
Wright was bad. Again. Doesn’t have it at this level.I thought Acosta and Shaq in particular were woeful. That’s what you get from two MLS subs.
Wright I thought wasn’t half bad, just a lack of quality.
Zimmerman is useful at the end of a game like this, where his only job was see ball, head ball as far as you can. He did that very well today
He fears the French. He’s definitely not AmericanHe’s American, but yes you’re right, Spain would leather the USA.
Why can't they just say bruise?
Imagine if they just listed "bruised balls" lolBecause he got hit in the crotchal area and "pelvic contusion" sounds better
Idk. I think he’ll set up the same again. High energy, try and get a goal first 60, and then reevaluate. Not the time to stop competing now. The Dutch haven’t been all that either. Should’ve lost to Ecuador. Could’ve gone either way against Senegal. It’s a good draw for us I think. I’m optimistic.Solid progress, especially considering the age of the squad. Still a long way to go to match some past us teams (2002).
Hope we give it a go on Saturday but can see Gregg playing for pens
I hope so. Definitely the one of the best matchups we could get, Gregg's in game tactics/subs just worry meIdk. I think he’ll set up the same again. The best part of the soccer/association football bit is Australia and a few other nations also call it soccerThe Americans look a well organised side with good spirit to me - the kind of team that gets out of a World Cup group despite itself. Yes, they lack a bit of class up front, but they'll be a difficult opponent for the Dutch who will be under all the pressure. I think they've given a great account of themselves and have earned respect for their performances - especially in the UK where "soccer" - which as we in Ireland KNOW is simply a shorthand for "association" football - is ignorantly dismissed as some crazy Americanism.
The Welsh couldn't beat them, the English couldn't beat them, and they saw off the Iranians when they needed a win and a win only. Fair dues. That's a competent performance by any measure. I've enjoyed watching them.
... alimentary, dear Watson...There is a man in the crowd dressed as Sherlock Holmes.
