Sterling proven in the Premier League and Maradona wasn’t, I’ve just read above that that’s all that counts.

Brazil was a good league back then in all fairnessI mean if we're going on what leagues people do stuff in then surely Pele is just a bum that beat trash international sides. Scored goals in Brazil and USA. Top top tier that.
Brazil was a good league back then in all fairness
South American teams were as good for a long whileBrazil was a good league back then in all fairness
Argentina have got a bit of work to do to win the group though by the look of it.Just as Germany - if they squeak through - might face Morocco in the second round, Argentina would have a relatively handy second round match against Australia if they top this group. Starting badly may turn out well for these quasi-fallen giants in so far as nobody would consider the Moroccans or Australians as insurmountable opposition at this point of the tournament. They are both admirable, of course, but Germany and Argentina - should they get there - will be blushing at the luck that appears to have come their way...
A win tonight will do that.Argentina have got a bit of work to do to win the group though by the look of it.
No. Winner of France vs...England facing the winner of Poland/Australia in the quarters assuming they beat Senegal.
Damn. lolNo. Winner of France vs...
Pele proved how good he was vs the top Europeans in the inter-continental cup (world club championships). Smashing in 7 goals in 3 games (vs European champions Benfica and AC Milan, respectively).Brazil was a good league back then in all fairness
I know you're s*** hot on your WC history, so you'll know/remember them scraping out the group as runners-up to face Morocco in 1986...then got Mexico in the quarters and before you know it, they're in another final!!Just as Germany - if they squeak through - might face Morocco in the second round, Argentina would have a relatively handy second round match against Australia if they top this group. Starting badly may turn out well for these quasi-fallen giants in so far as nobody would consider the Moroccans or Australians as insurmountable opposition at this point of the tournament.
