You never know what you are going to get from France. I doubt they are too fussed about the group stages. Whether they turn up in the knockouts is another thing.

I blame the format. Way too much leeway for the better sides. And that's deliberate. It's how it's designed. Keep the big boys safe. The tournament starts on Saturday for the big sides. The first two weeks were for Albania, Georgia, and Scotland to add colour, have their moment, and depart tragically.
 
France need a real striker. Should have called Mateta up.

They find getting the opposition to defend facing their own goal easy, getting in behind half a dozen times that half. Unlike say Italy or Croatia who did everything in front of the opposition defence.

But it lacks someone hitting the penalty spot area so the pass is automatic, Mateta would have done that job.
 
Gakpo has looked good off the left all tournament. Looks a bit part player at the RS, although I'm sure they play him down the middle a lot.
