hmmm...getting to the QF is more of an immediate worry.

England are quite capable of losing to anyone, anyplace, anywhere even to Japan in Russia had we have won.

Colombia are undoubtedly tough and capable although hardly playing that well themselves, but we've still probably just given ourselves the best chance for 30 years (albeit a slim chance) of going all the way and rested almost the entire team.

A hollow victory of one reserve team over another is not worth it for such a massive ask afterwards

Even if we lose to Colombia (quite possible) this right now is still a far better chance of going far in this tournament

Really convinced they'll play well? Colombia have no reason to be concerned playing against us.

Colombia are decent but we should be beating them if we play well I really do believe that.

Seen them today and other than Poland have they been that good ? Look average against Senegal

no offense, but I consider that thinking to be quite deluded. Thinking of the semis after drawing the more difficult of the possible ties in the 2nd round.

I understand your point of view even if i don't think this alternative one at all deluded, one which is shared by so many others, even Gary Neville espoused much the same in his post match analysis.

Belgium's QF spot is assured. England's isn't. If Kane has an off game they are in massive massive trouble.

BTW, I think Mexico might see off Brazil. Brazil are obviously a good team but I think they're also very flakey and either Mexico or Belgium can see them off.

You are going to look such a turnip if that goes belly up

If you're Belgium then that strategy would have worked. Belgium are a way better team than England and would have seen Colombia off. England will struggle if Kane is not on song. Toss up that game for me.

Turnip Southgate had a chance to go all out tionight and secure a creditable QF berth. But he's gambled on going one stepo further than that and his career will depend on it coming off. Personally i think he's been too greedy and he'll be in a lot of trouble hanging onto his job and explaining those 7 changes if/when Colombia prevail. He's defo placed his head on the chopping block and heaped a lot of pressure on this England team too.

And they say England fans are deluded

That's a banker. I'm already looking ahead to a battle royal between Brazil and Belgium.

QF berth was what Martinez had to hit here at WC2018. He's an (easy) win away from securing that. They have a free shot at Brazil and I think they'll enjoy being the counter attacking side against a team that pushes right out!!!!

Did you just miss that game tonight when Belgium third string beat England?

Did you miss my complete sarcasm, and the fact that it was a second string England

Love how you continue to dismiss Japan like they are push overs, bear in mind that they hold a win over a good Columbia side, nothing is guaranteed in a knockout round

Japan are no match for Belgium. That's a guarantee of a WC QF at least. England v Columbia is just in favour of England but nowhere near certain.

If England get to the quarters then it's job done for them also, but it's a big if.

Most important factor swings in Colombia's favour here. They have knockout round experience. They've knocked out Uruguay out of WC 2014 and knocked out teams in past few Copa America's, something England haven't done in tournaments for past 12 years.
