Chaos theory.

No one knows what will happen at any given time only what is 'likely to happen'.

We could have played our first team, still lost, picked up a few injuries and had our confidence shot to pieces.

Personally, I'm in the let the cards lie where they fall camp. Whats done is done.

We had an 'easy' tie vs Iceland last time and we all know how that ended.

So Italy & Holland don’t qualify.

Germany - OUT
Argentina - OUT
Portugal - OUT
Spain - OUT

All the stars are aligning for Inglund to completely Everton this.

England v Columbia - Round of 16
England v Switzerland / Sweden - Quarter Final
England v Russia / Croatia / Denmark - Semi FInal
England v Brazil / France / Uruguay / Japan / Mexico / Belgium - Final

I have just checked after questioning you. Amazing how its panning out.

It’s gonna be absolutely horrible when we lose to colombia.

Be a long time til another opportunity this good comes around.

No one thinks it will be easier apart from the media, most England fans are being realistic and taking things a game at a time, if we go through great, if we go out after playing well then there won't be many complaints
I think that it is an easier route so you are wrong in saying no one. That doesn’t mean that we will win the next game.

I am fearful of Colombia. England's capacity to balls things up is veritably Evertonesque. But,something tells me that somewhere along the way we are destined to meet, (and lose on penalties to), Russia...

He's going to be hero or zero. No half-way house on Southgate in this WC.

On the playmaker: he could and should have taken Shelvey. Dier and Delph offer nothing.
They are reserves though as would Shelvey had beeen had he been selected.I would have taken him over Delph and Dier.Delle is the main man in this area and his link up with Kane is vital in this team.I think is he is fully fit then we will beat Colombia.

I cant see the overall benefit of what Southgate did by throwing the Belgian game (not that if it were a vital game for both teams he'd have won such an encounter, but under the reduced circumastances of last Thursday's game it was there to be won). This England team can go no further than the SFs in any case. What's the great difference in reality of making the last 8 rather than the last 4? None as I see it. So "the pay off" scenario is unnecessary and unwise.

Better to have taken Japan and a nailed on QF berth and fight Brazil with honour and arrive home to build for the Euros. Southgate made the cal not to do so and he pays the price if this SF berth isn't secured.
Your in it to win it Davek not SF it's a cup! Your (our ex man) has a chance of glory. So have England amazingly.Neither side/ manager has messed anything up yet.

Imo, Southgate instructed that England team to lose last night. The attempts at goal were utterly laughable. It was obvious the players who got those shots off were putting them wide on purpose.

So, a decision was made by the manager to leave aside a sure fire QF spot by brushing aside Japan in order to secure an "easier" QF opponent and maybe progress to the SFs.

That's his decision. That gamble is with him. Get beat by Colombia and he has made a massive error and deserves to lose the managerial position. You can be sure the English football media will have made those calculations too.

I actually agree tbh. I was massively disappointed with England the other night. That was there for the taking and you can’t ask for many better knockout draws than Japan. However, beat Colombia and it has the potential to look like a master stroke in the end.

Bird in the hand.....
